Beautiful Boy Child

Beautiful boy child resting in the hay
long time past in sleepy Bethlehem
come down to earth to show us the way
and redeem the sin-sick souls of men
thank you for coming lowly and poor
with no guile and greed for earthly gain
Son Of God who opened Heaven's door
bearing all our sickness, shame and pain
shepherds chosen to hear angels sing
keeping watch in Judea's quiet fields
divine tidings of greatest joy they bring
born now is one who saves and heals
highest glory, peace good will to men
wise men forever seek The Holy King
so it will be until time on Earth will end
what we need Our Lord Christ brings
kingdoms shall rise, kingdoms shall fall
and man may boast of his earthly power
but Jesus Christ is King and Lord of all
let his praises ring each day, every hour
lowly child stable-born in a manger laid
no earthly palace from which to reign
able to avoid the cross but you stayed
and hath borne our sickness and pain
Lord, thank you for an amazing sacrifice
laying your glory aside for manger and cross
all hopes of mankind in you are met tonight
you who loved despite all the pain and loss
may your star shine this night and every night
let the angels' anthems fill the midnight sky
bring us peace on Earth, is our earnest prayer
in heaven and earth be worshiped everywhere
On that special eve so long ago the honest light of love began to grow. Your poem is heartfelt thanks to His birth. You know the story and told it with passion.
