What abuse does to one's self esteem.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
take my soul.
you have murdered the essence of what was me.
rip out my juicy center.
i don't need it.
what good is it if i no longer exist?
~~
take my heart.
what once felt joy now feels incredible pain.
you tore it out by the roots.
i don't need it.
what good is it for since you sacrificed mine?
~~
take my brain.
feed another part of it to the buzzards.
you always say i'm stupid.
i don't need it.
what good is it since i'm too dumb to miss it?
~~
take my words.
you tear them up and throw them to the four winds.
they disappear...no matter.
i don't need them.
what good are they if no one wants to hear them?
~~
Karla,
What a great write. Don’t worry about tearing up any of your writings, I have plenty of scotch tape, and it would be my honor to paste them back together. Don’t you go feeding any part of that brain of yours to those darn Buzzards either, you’re needed right here. Thanks for your kind review of my last poem. I’ll make sure to drop by and continue reading your terrific writes.
Best of luck to you ands yours,
Thomas
It has always been strange to me (until now) that an abused person then abuses him or her self. I guess it is the years of military training, but I would never put myself down becuse of the cruel things others do. It seems so counterproductive and illogical.
Don't give EVEN one inch.
(((Karla)))
Powerfully sad and heartwrenching; exposes the very essence of what verbal abuse does to a person's self esteem! Thanks for bringing this matter to the forefront; if only the abuser knew what permanent damage they cause...
(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, karen lynn. :( >tears < BRAVA for a strong and courageous write!
