"WE WERE HAPPY, ONCE"

We were happy, once.
Stars in the laughing skies
Twinkled in delight
At the love we had.

We were happy, once.
The sun gave its blessing,
Embraced us in warmth,
Encouraged our love.

We were happy, once.
The Northern Lights blushed
Whenever we kissed.
O, to be in love!

But...

The stars fell from the sky.
The sun refused to shine.
The Northern Lights splintered.
And so did our love.

We were happy, once.

Lovely work, Karla. Sad, but take comfort in the knowledge that the sun rises every day, and so there's a chance for a new smile.
