Tried to quit smoking. Didn't make it. The stress I'm feeling at work didn't help...GRRRRRRRR! Keep me in your prayers (Karen, too, 'cause she's having to put up with me).
I'm tired, so TIRED of letting things get to me. I let frustrations build until I'm ready to explode into a million fragments and meteor across the heavens. I'm tired so TIRED of being the nice girl. Why can't I be a bitch once in a while and let someone have a piece of my mind instead of trying to keep the peace? I'm tired, so TIRED of seeing others succeed. While here I am, lingering in a dead end job that's going nowhere fast and being stuck in a traffic jam of the same old bull. I'm tired, so TIRED of doing everyone else's job. I have enough work to do of my own, thankyewverymuch and I'm not being paid extra to do theirs on top of mine. I'm tired, so TIRED ... I think I need another vacation. Because I'm going to explode. Because lately I've been a bitch. Because I'm getting jealous. Because I'm ...tired. So very tired.
Hi! I'm back! I've got some coffee for you! Wake up! You have much yet to do. There are multitudes hungry for your wit and you mustn't deprive them their sustenance. So, grab a catnap and get to the musing!
Hang a banner around you and tell everyone you will be a bitch for a while you are trying to quit smoking and I think they will all help you to get through this...but PLEASE don't start again...it's for yourself you are doing this NO ONE ELSE OKAY!!
I so sympathise, Karla, and also concur with all the very sound and helpful thoughts of others who have commented. You take care of you... has the Turner already said that?! I'm beginning to sound like him! Love Rich's idea about loving your heart... then your hands... then your mind... SO good and what those of us with lowered self-image need to keep hearing, perhaps. But I do also know that if you become too empty; too tired of fighting the same battles day in, day out; too overtaxed - then the heart can become VERY vulnerable and emotions go completely awry in the heat of exhaustion. Be kind to yourself, Karla, and MAKE yourself rest somehow. Hope, like Kitty above, you have been able to use this rant as your scratchin post. Don't ever feel guilty for what you feel: that's HOW you feel and that's that; guilt will only compound the problem of weakness and is further sapping. Bless Karen who will doubtless stick with you through thick and thin and understand wholly. Thank God for HER!! Better out than in, and better off work for a few days needed respite than off indefinitely through stress. Sounds like you need more than just "a good night's sleep" - something which fighting fit people don't understand sometimes. These things can only be fully understood by those who have "been there". And I know what it's like to feel like someone has just literally "pulled the plug on your resources of energy". I will pray... cold-turkey from cigarettes is probably a big part of both the physical and emotional fall-out of this. Bless you always - at least poetry is benefitting! LOL Kate xx
Karla I can feel your frustrations but always consider what you have as a blessing from God because there are others who do not have even a fraction of what you have been endowed with. " I complained without shoes until I saw someone without feet" that is a famous proveb in our country where most of the people live in poverty. Thanks your brother abdi-noor

Know the feeling. I just asked for my vaction and was given it :-) yup in a week I actually get some time off.
I have had moments like this in the past too, Karla. I now understand that no one can make me feel bad without my consent and that lusting after what others have is never a wise choice. Rather I stop and count my blessings. I have food, I have shelter, I have the ability to read and write. The City takes my garbage away and I have a loo that flushes. Every day, I thank God as I stand in a hot shower, knowing that so many have never once enjoyed that mesmerizing sensation. I used to be jealous, that was before I realized how many blessings I have in my life.
Take care,
Sherry
Karla, you have a lot of good advice from your friends. Robert, Jerry, Dawn, Carmen, they all have it right. BUT the only thing that can really help you, is yourself! You are too much of a worrier, and the only way to stop it, is to stop it;-) No one will ever do it for you. That's hard to hear, but it's the truth. You also need to look at people who have a lot worse happening to them as we all know they are out there. Right now Carmen is keeping the faith awaiting heart surgery. Pray for her! This is how we get relief from God. Take care, and lift yourself up with your positive points which
are many, stay away from the negative! I'm still praying for your father, aunt and uncle!
Hang in there Karla...I've been there more times than I would like to recall. Sometimes life just seems so unfair and we end up feeling like the words of your wonderful poem. Please remember that there is always tomorrow and it is almost always so much grander than the day before! Hang on tight and keep your hope, things will get better...trust me.

Karla, my friend,
I can relate to you feeling like you ought to be feeling fed up.
this is Absolutely Grand because it calls to mind the scripture.
I am not sure where , but I have once heard someone reading holy
words as an inspirational speeker and she kept saying love you heart
more than every other part of you , but she went heart then mentiomed each other human part. I cried. Now I relate to because I
am like you , but as i am a middle aged man of 43 , a know a tintzie
bit more by experience. Inshort , never regret that what is of your
heart !!! Karla, I know a little of you.
You extremely bright and creative and lord only knows how much more i am sure there to you. You could be mean and cold and abandon your
compassion for the most part , but you are you and it's all your
heart. So , please Love you heart!
Excellent and exceptional work as I rarely see,...pleasure!

before I dish out the advice, God knows I've been there, so (except for the smoking - but I had my addictions, too!) I understand. it helps to write I hope. now, the best advice somebody gave me once was to take an entire day and clear my schedule to bitch, moan and BE TIRED... funny thing was after wallowing in it for a few hours up to my neck, I couldn't sustain it and things popped up everywhere to remind me what a wonderful world it is and the obstacles became opportunities and the day with all its hassles became a gift. hoping you find some rest and peace and harmony, Dawn
I like the honesty & anger of this write...sometimes the best way to overcome fatique is with passion. Just be who you are...say what you want, think what you will and never, never let anyone try to make you feel like you have to justify your existence or apologize for who you are! That's what I'm talking about! The only thing or person you can control in this life is yourself...focus on that and let the rest slide cause people are going to think and do what they want anyway...so should you! Regarding smoking...keep trying to stop but don't beat yourself up about it or it will only make you want to smoke more, quit because you want it, not because everyone says you should...as if you didn't already know! One step, one day at a time and you will get there! Believe it & you can make it happen.

Yeah, I agree - go for it, Karla - and take a few 'mental health' days off, too - they truly do help.
Take care,
