Memories come rushing in and splash across the T.V. screen until we are up to our eyes in sorrow: We had no thought they would strike until the towers crumbled and the world as we once knew it fell with them; we had no idea what power tidal waves possess until they rose in foreign countries and came into ours; we had no inkling of what those along the Gulf felt until nature brought the storm into our living rooms. We experienced the surge of terror and uncertainty, unlike those trapped by the flood, we could escape - we go right back to our lives as if nothing ever happened until an anniversary reminds us or sudden disaster strikes a little bit too close to home... how soon we forget, as long as it's not here.
So very true; it is amazing how quickly we forget after something happens. We must always remember and keep our guard up; we can't be complacent for one second or it will happen again, guaranteed! Good stuff; brava!

Too true... having nearly lost my life on a couple or more occasions, you would think I would pay heed... but... Perhaps it is the coping mechanisms, or the chemicals released or sumthing...
