SRING--

a kildeer's screeches
signal an approaching storm
nature's warning cry

flowers awaken
stretch their faces to Heaven
for the sun's kisses

a lightning bug's flash
competes with the storm's lightning
for twice the beauty

the sun sends her warmth
encouraging one and all
to enjoy her light

SUMMER--

the days are longer
the temperature's hotter too
welcome to summer

the sand is covered
by sunburned human bodies
laying on blankets

sunflowers stand tall
waving in the summer breeze
guarding the prairie

katydids chirping
as the evening approaches
summer's soothing sound

AUTUMN--

a chill's in the air
the autumn leaves are falling
a brand new season

hanging on tightly
leaves try to entend their lives
but they, too, must fall

yellow harvest moon
telling all they must prepare
for the coming cold

turkeys run and hide
they don't want to be served as
thanksgiving dinner!

WINTER--

a grouchy grizzly
hibernates through the winter
trying to keep warm

snowflakes slowly drifting
down to meet the frozen earth
blanketed in white

trees stand shivering
brutal winds of a blizzard
whip their nakedness

a pine's scent evokes
memories of Christmases
enjoyed as youngsters
