innocents lost

i shouldn't have to say goodbye
when you should be here at my side
because that's where you should be
a little girl and her mommy
instead you were taken from me
ripped away from my life, my heart
taken right from under my nose
by a cruel cold hearted monster
mommy should have been there for you
and if she could, she would have been
mommy feels so lost so guilty
tell me what should mommy have done
what could she have done to save you
from the hands of that murderer
that ended your life way too soon
he left you alone and afraid
i pray you can forgive mommy
because she wasn't there with you
she wasn't able to stop him
from taking you away from her
mommy is so very angry
no not at you my little one
you didn't do anything wrong
you are my precious little girl
you're now a sweet little angel
i will never see you grow up
and i'll never know your dreams
maybe you would be president
find the cure for the world's disease
and now i'll never know because
you're one of the innocents lost
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

parts of this poem came to mind last
night when i heard that another little
girl had been kidnapped and a body
of a child had been found not far from
where she had lived...this breaks my
heart.

i don't understand why these predators
have to prey on innocent children.
what did they ever do to you that you
have to derive your sick pleasures from
their innocence???

i hope that anyone that would harm a
precious little child will be found, caught,
and severely punished.

Perhaps we need to let the parents of
kidnapped and murdered children be
the judge, jury and executioner...

I can tell that came from a deep well of sorrow for all the harm some of this world's inhabitants inflict upon innocent, defenseless children. You moved me to tears, making me want to comfort both mother and child. Truly, you have been given a gift.

powerful, emotional poem!! it's a sad state of affairs when our children can't play at will because of some sicko perverts with nothing better to do than to prey on innocent little children...good write, karla!! love, your twin, karen lynn. ((HUGS))

~clapping~ Oh yes! I agree so whole heartedly with your emotions here. A tender and eloquent poem that speaks of the horror and guilt these parents must feel...as if it were their fault for these monsters preying upon their innocents. Great poem, Karla! ;)

It is always so hurtful for me to see this kind of poem, but yet this is true.....there are so many perverts in this world. God will punish them for their sins, when their time come, they'll know what they had done!!!!!

I agree with you sweetie.. I hope that something can be done to stop this nonsense.. It breaks my heart. Parents, you just can't be too careful anymore.. Sad but true. I remember when Iris was just 5 we were in a shopping mall and I was watching her like a hawk. An elderly woman came to me and told me I was being way too over protective and I should let her have some freedom. <shakes head> I don't think so.
