Interesting commentary, Karla, although I have to admit I don't know a lot about who is not getting the stimulus. This, and some of the comments below, stimulate me to proclaim one of my own wishes. That would be that congressmen and all the rest of government's retirees would be a part of the social security system for their pensions. They would be in the same system with the rest of us...Jerry
Well written Karla. Being a veteran who was disabled in the line of duty myself in 2004, I understand where you're coming from. But in all fairness, I must be missing something here. I get my disability check every month which barely covers our mortgage. My wife works two jobs to pay the rest of the bills and provide food and clothing for our eight year old son Jon. Because she works, we filed an income tax return in 2007, a simple requirement in order to receive the stimulus payment. Every person or family in the country who filed a tax return in 2007 is getting a stimulus check of some type. Now you know me; I've written some pretty harsh things about our leaders and I am not in love with our government at present; corruption is rampant; prices are out of control; the greed is disgusting and the country as a whole is Godless. But anyone and everyone who is a citizen can file a simple 1040 EZ and get a stimulus payment. I agree, the rich get richer and the poor are getting poorer and it's a sad state of affairs. But I have to give my support to the economic stimulus act. It's not much but it's better than doing nothing at all. Let's face reality, we wouldn't be in the economic mess we're in if people would stop and read the labels of what they're buying. Our economy would be fine if REAL AMERICANS would BUY AMERICAN. I don't think I've ever disagreed with you on anything before this Karla. Oh well, always a first time I guess. God bless you my friend.
$154 billion dollars borrowed from China for the economic stimulus package! It must be paid back with interest. Do you have any idea who will have to pay this back? We, the American taxpayers. I fail to see the stimulus! JMW
In the US, the Washington boys are saying to themselves, are no poors or needy, so we can put all our money in Iraq so we can get tentimes it back in cheap oil that we can sell to our landsmen for ten times what we paid for it.

I know people had to earn a certain amount in order to get it. I don't think that is fair. Our goverment should stop spending billions in Iraq and help those who need it here in America......M
Yes, sad that those that need it are ofttimes bypassed, but this "stimulus" was tied into IRS tax-payers. I would hope that more of the needy would qualify for the Mission Food-Basket.
