... and then I wake up ...

Poem Artwork

It's hard to believe you are
no longer here.  I expect to
hear your voice, telling me
everything's okay, that you
love me; I expect to feel
your arms around me; and
then I wake up --- I can't
believe you're gone.  I miss
your presence in my life ---
much more now than ever.

We will always miss our parents as we usually only get one set of them no matter how good or not good they are. Both of mine are deceased, but I hear them still every single day. If you listen you will hear them also.

When the grief recedes, Karla, you will learn he is still with you; his love, his teachings, his laughter, his hugs, his hand to wipe your tears...they remain within you. Be happy for him that he no longer lives in pain on this Earth. But for now, share your grief.

Karla you will always miss your Dad but all you have to do is close your eyes and think of him as he will always live in your heart dear. Time will heal your pain and only time. Smile for your dad as he watches over you.

I'm really sorry to hear about your Dad; no matter how much life and God try to prepare us for the passing of a loved ahead of time, it never gets easier for some. I'm convinced it is because this temporal world is not our true home. We are meant to be eternally with our love ones... And that's worth staying the course for....yet, for now I know your sorrow is real, deep and lasting...Love & thoughts, michael guy

My dad died in 2002 and I still think of him every day. He loved the outdoors and when I walk outside, I think how much he would have enjoyed my yard with it's big pecan tree and cedars that shade the patio most of the day. You'll never forget him, but the pain will lessen.

The struggle over physical loss crosses into a threshold of pain that cannot be measured. Our pining for loved ones is natural part of acceptance and though we will miss them always, the pain will subside and the good memories blossom like a spring garden.

A friend of mine once said that there ought to be a law which says that parents can't die until their children are ready for them to. I agree whole heartedly... but... on the other hand... I don't know that we would ever be ready.

Even after 20 months, I still pick up the phone to call my mom and then realize... she won't be there to pick it up.

Hold him in your heart... he will be with you.

Hugs,
Cryssa

It is hard to believe it when they are gone. You still go on feeling for them and looking for them and just think they ought to be here with you. They are in spirit at least. Time will heal but take all the time you need to grieve. Glad you can still write at this time. Take care of yourself and things will look brighter with time. My sympathy goes out to you and Karen too. Remember God is good, all the time.

Your heartfelt words express exactly how I feel. We never dreamed this would come to pass, yet we knew it would happen, someday. Well, that someday is now here, but it doesn't make the pain any easier to bear. With each other's help/support, and with the help of the Lord and our family/friends, we WILL get through this, somehow. Powerfully expressed emotions of grief; very well written! BRAVA, Karla!

Hugs and sincere love to you, fighting back the tears Dear One I truly know how you feel. Perhaps unbelievable but was true for me the way my mind exploded with even more creative thoughts. Throughout and even now I decided to look at all the new and wonderful thoughts, ideas, lyrics and etc as more blessings from God. It was as if He took away and at the same time He gave back. With the thought that the love one is in a much more luscious place only filled with love and that he could watch over a darling daughter forevermore.

Continued blessings and true heartfelt enlightenments,
~Gwendolyn
