... Numbers frozen, stuck forever on May 28. ...

Image (c) 2007, Karla Dorman

Poem Artwork

Could rewind to before, when
I still had him in my life -
when I could hear him, smell
him, fear him and love him -
watch busted.  Numbers frozen,
stuck forever on May 28.  The
memories sweep through my mind
like a second hand and stare
like hours from the mirror - I
am my Daddy's girl.  Not big
and strong like he was, keeping
time - I miss him so very much -

(c) 2008, Karla Dorman (6/13)

What you say here is exactly part of it in loss that all go through.
Somehow seemng such a negative memorial at first it gradually (with me anyway it did) becomes a positive memorial in time... but whatever you never stop remembering...and that's GOOD. Take care and love your sister too as part of the healing...

They say that with time the pain level goes down, that's a lie, when yo love so much someone, that pain will stay there forever, but one must no dwell in it, the pain can be soothed wth happy memories.

I miss daddy too, Karla; still trying to come to terms with the fact that he's gone. It will take time, but we'll make it through this sad time--together, and with God's help. Very well written; brava!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your twin, Karen Lynn. :( >tears! <

There is a few stages of grief but the day
will always linger in your thoughts
But the good memories you have
Will overpower the day some time in
The future, its taken me years to put the day
Of my Mather passing on the back of my mind,
Always remember he has not left you
He was call to heaven and there he watches over you!!
Wishing you the Peace Love and Light...Morning Star

The first few years are the hardest, but in time you'll forget the day as one of sadness and use it to celebrate the father you remember with love.

I know how you feel now. Felt like that when hubby died Aug 17 07, still love him and miss him. It takes time, especially on holidays. This will be my first Father's Day with hubby Tom. Am thinking, how am I going to celebrate it without him. Yes, going to get a sandwich at Hardees and a milk shake and go to his grave and eat there as I sometimes picnic there with him. Anything I do helps. So I know you have these dates over over again in you mind. I still do too, and there is nothing wrong with that. Someone told me on the den that it sometimes takes 5 years to grieve. We got a long way to go then.

A touching write my friend, that date will forever be etched in your heart and mind. Time, prayer, family and friends will help soften and ease the pain a bit, and you will always have your wonderful memories that you will cherish, and it seems as swiftly as time is passing, we'll all meet again for an eternal life of happiness. Remember you've always got friends and a Heavenly father who will help carry you when you are tired of walking...beautiful write indeed, heartfelt!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

You will never forget the date, Karla, but the pain will lessen and the memories will become softer and sweeter. After a while memories will be welcome friends rather than bringing pain.
And God will always be with you, soothing the hurts.

Love and hugs,
Connie
