Why I haven't been around ... guess I expected (hoped for) too much ... set myself up for disappointment ... think I'd learn.

Poem Artwork

You tell me your secret, and I'm like,
damn.  Maybe you feel better, but I
don't.  Happy for you, but not for me:
you know who you are.  Know who I
am, too:  50 years old, still alone ---

why are all the good ones taken or
gay?  Not saying you're not good,
because you are:  you are the best
thing to happen in my life in forever.
How I wish things could be different:

you're handsome; you're funny; you
know how to treat a lady.  You are
someone I wish I'd met years ago,
and I'm glad we're friends.  I'm just
mourning what could have been:

wanting to be loved but knowing I
will never be the one you love.  And
it hurts because I wonder if I ever
will find someone and afraid I won't:
almost wish you hadn't told me ....

Heck girl, you are still young by today's standards. My sister just married at 56, I married at 50, my friend married at 60, another at 65 and another in her 80's. Don't give up being open to it yet ok? Love you bunches, J'nia

Very touching poetry.
I think most of us can relate only too well.
Love does seem to appear most when we are not looking for it...
Just giving it.
You are certainly not without love- just hope it really goes your way soon. Somebody should recognize a gem.
:)

Oh girl! you are not alone soaking in that bath-tube waiting for a piece of soap to wash away solitude smears...but them which wait, will get their backs scrubbed before the water becomes cold!

Karla, you have written this and expressed yourself so beautifully through your pain. I know it's difficult....but look forward...there is so much more of your life to be lived.

A sobering write...just when I think I can't feel worse I realize how many people never even got to feel some of the joys I've had in my life even once. When it comes to love I have known it well and would never have given up one moment even for the ends that came with each one. Perhaps you write about one kind of love you feel you'll never have yet think of the pain you'll never have to feel either and there could be a blessing in it. LadyJ

You know they say the answer "no" does not exist in this Universe. It's either "yes", "not now", or "there is something better in store." Words to live by.

You would not believe how much this totally "hits home," Karla. The coincidence of timing and meaning leaves me reeling. Love and best wishes to you,

I know there is someone for you Karla. Fifty is way to young to think you may not find love. In fact there isn't any age that your to young to find love. My mom lives in a place where people are in their eighties and nineties and they still are finding love. It'sin the heart not in how old you are. I smile as I write this- I really don't think you will have to wait THAT long to find love!
With Love,
Cindy

You are only too old to find love when you stop believing in the whole concept of love and...
when you do you may as well stop breathing for love is life itself.

50? Oh honey, you are still young and this is YOUR time. So now you know what you want in a man--go out and find YOURS. If you ever had doubts that you are lovable---well now you know. Don't let his shadow keep you in the shade. Your love is waiting in the sun! And you deserve him. A big hug from one whose been there...Love, Lin

Sad write, Karla. I can't find the right words to say other than keep the faith and pray, my friend. God still has a plan for you.
Trust and obey and may God bless.

Enjoy your FREEDOM. Hell on Earth is caused by relationships.

In Eden it was perfect but after the fall, I can't find one couple who were happy. (outside my mum n dad of 60 yrs) Never being owned, not being able to just nip off on a jet to another country, why do we feel the need to be held captives to the sexual urge.

I thought I'd found my miss perfect, but after being stitched up, she changed her number, email and never contacted. One can give all, but get nothing but dishonesty in return. She had been seeing another English bloke at the same time. Close friends and family are priceless. A two timing cheat is a waste of life.

If the real deal comes, then great. If not, don't accept someone whom gets off on playing with your emotions. It is just not worth it, life has much to offer outside a married prison sentence.

Never too late for love and happiness and always remember Karla, God made us in pairs and there is someone for each of us, we can't give up until we find the right partner, I am so glad I didn't.

Newfie hugs are on the way, Rose
