From Icarus on, so many have lost their lives to leave the gravity of mother Earth. In the early twentieth century, many nameless men and women build airplanes, flew them, and crashed them, all in an effort to break the surly bonds of earth and fly free. As late as the 1990s, my cousin, flying his friend's experimental plane, crashed and died before his father's eyes.
