Has it been eight years since
the violence that was
Katrina swept into 
our living rooms?  We could

not help but watch, since the
weather was the only
thing on the news:  they said
she could be even worse

than Camille was way back
when.  Our eyes followed the
spinning clouds right into
the Gulf Coast states.  We cringed

when we saw citizens
sheltering in their homes
or in a Dome that was
less than Super.  We watched

the waters rising and
keep rising.  We gasped
in horror at looters
stealing everything that

wasn't blown away or 
nailed down.  I still see the
images in my head
and hear the banshee wails:

not just wind, but also
howls from the throats of those
who lost all they had.  It
seemed everyone played The

Blame Game:  still no winner,
unless you count the dead.
Fast forward to eight years
later:  you can see her

marks on the walls and in
abandoned buildings.  Don't
know if we will ever
recover all she took ...
