ordinary heroes die every day
men
women
rookie
seasoned veteran
scared? you bet
wanting to quit? possibly
but knowing they have a job to do
they do what they have to do
and some of them are injured
and some of them lose their lives
ordinary heroes
on duty or off
dressed in ordinary clothes
police officer blues
emt whites and scrubs
firefighter coats boots gloves mask
doing their job just because
that's what they do
and they love their work
they don't think they're heroes
but that's where they're wrong
ordinary heroes risking their lives
for their fellow man
whether stranger
neighbor
family member or friend
their race doesn't matter
their religion doesn't matter
when someone needs help
they help
no questions asked
and that's why i think they're heroes

an undercover narcotics police officer was shot late thursday when a drug bust went bad. she is in critical condition. please keep her in your prayers...i don't know her name, but God will know who y'all mean.
this poem came to mind when i heard the news.
this poem is dedicated to our police officers, emt/paramedics and firefighters, active duty and retired. (((THANK YOU))) for a job well done...
just wanted y'all to know i appreciate you...
may God keep y'all safe, and protect you from harm...
