the baby thunderstorm starts out very small,
there's nothing threatening about it at all,
but as it grows up, it gets meaner than mean,
let's look how it begins...behind the scene,

there's blue skies over the north texas prairie,
it's rather warm, and it is quite humid, too,
some warm air slowly begins to rise, and rise,
clouds start to form as the warm air starts to cool,

the clouds grow taller, they continue to grow,
updrafts raise the clouds into the atmosphere,
rain starts to form, and downdrafts begin as well,
the storm's growing, it can quickly get severe,

the top of the cloud becomes an anvil shape,
lightning flashes, thunder crashes, wind and rain,
stay inside until the storm passes you by,
and if you see hail, or think you hear a train,

there could be a twister--get inside, stay safe,
go to the basement, or to a central room,
get under something sturdy, 'til it goes by,
you cannot ride it out on a witch's broom,

get away from windows, and stay off the phone,
turn off the t.v. and the computer games,
don't take a bath, stay alert and please be safe...
in the obits...i don't want to see your name!

finally, finally, the storm starts to wane,
in the clearing skies you begin to see stars,
see--you have made it...you have survived the storm,
just remember...stay safe, and you will go far!
