Poverty

The rent is due and
so are the lights,
The size of my paycheck is a fright!
My loan is late--I
Can't sleep at night,
Being poor is the pits--something's not right...

And I just cannot comprehend,
When will this struggle ever end?

Do I pay bills
Or do I eat?
How am I going to make ends meet?
What do I do
My life's no treat,
One paycheck away from livin' on the streets,

There is no change that I can see,
This is the way it is--poverty!

Working a job
That don't pay well,
Jobs hard to find since the economy fell,
I stick it out,
Although it's hell,
Who knows if it will turn around, who can tell?

Don't give advice, 'less you've been there,
Don't judge, but please keep me in your prayer...

What do I want? And
What do I need?
I'd like to have some relief, this I plead,
What can I do?
No answer received,
I'd like to be comfortable, that's not greed...

AN original theme to a poem - bravo!
Language is much better, too.
Poverty has caused revolutions. Do not wait; invent a way out! Unfortunately, it takes more than prayers. Use your mental resources as you used it here to get out of this trap!
All the luck!

Karla,
Oh boy, have I been there! I always hated advice then...especially when it wasn't helpful or had a practical suggestion with it. I am thinking of you and I am sending warm blessings your way. ;) Silver

Been ther, but not ever anymore. I had to work hard to get where I am. You should eat. As long as you pay maybe $10.00 a month on a bill they won't do anything. But you have to pay the light and rent bill. Hope all works out, your in my prayers. Your friend in Arkansas...Ron
