Some relationships are beyond saving

at one time
we had something special
we thought we'd be together
forever
that was a lifetime ago
now we're just
going through the motions
but there is nothing there
a heart without a pulse
no lifeblood flowing
no emotion
no feeling
there is no hope for recovery
no chance
for a normal life
you killed it
with your accusations your lies
why flog a dead body
when the heart no longer
wishes to beat
why try to bring it back to life
when there is no life left
the love is gone
and it cannot be brought back
just go away
and leave me alone
let me die in peace

(C) karla dorman, 2003.
