Pray for those whose loved ones will not be near...who face silent days as well as silent nights.

God bless our troops; bring them home safely, and soon.

Silent Night...
I've had way too many of them lately,
Since my boy was killed in the war,
My son died in service to his country,
Christmas don't mean much any more,

Holy Night...
There's a hole--a big one--that can't be filled,
My life, suddenly ripped apart,
At unexpected moments, my tears spill,
I'm dying of a broken heart,

All is calm...
Who are they kidding--not my world,
A Mom shouldn't outlive her son,
Into a new dimension, I've been hurled,
I wouldn't trade with anyone,

All is bright...
But I cannot see for all of the dark,
For there is no light to be seen,
God, why did You have to take my son, Mark?
He loved being in the Marines,

'Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child...
I cannot get past this, I can't go on,
Why'd you take him away from me?
How can I live, with my son gone?
I'm so damned depressed, I'm so damn lonely,

Holy Infant, so tender and mild...
Unlike the Virgin, I don't have my child
I'll never hear his voice again
My world's been polluted by death, defiled
And I ask:  why did this happen?

Sleep in Heavenly peace...
My son sleeps; and I lie awake at night,
Every night, I relive it all,
I hear, once more, how you died in that fight,
I scream, cry, then in a faint, fall,

Sleep in Heavenly peace...
And now Christmas draws near...what do I care?
No more shopping, no more presents,
Bring Mark back to me, if You're really there,
I can't stand him being absent...

This poem was the most powerful one I have seen from you yet...such heartbreak, and such longing for that which will have to wait for a Heavenly reunion. This is your best work, dear one. {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}
