It was a relief
we'd got saved
at the altar.
Nothing Satan or any
of his filthy-minded
followers could do
to us now. We sang
about it afterward, our
eyes still misty with new
innocence. Friends
forever were those who'd
prayed, wept, counselled us.
We belonged now to the
elitist of corps with lifetime
memberships to boot.
If we could have gone
on then and there to our
reward, what some call pie,
why, it would've been
just great and not in the least
sad or precipitate.
Reality, however, imposed
its unattractive head and
geared us up for more
less-than-laudable deeds and
omissions in the future.
Oh Lord, we began to ponder,
just when we think we've got
things wrapped up nicely and
under strict control, we fall
flat on our faces, as such,
reveal ourselves to be the
less-than-perfect lambs we
truly are--lost again and again
in some maze of darkness,
dungeon-like in its drabness.
Very nice Randall and yes I have fell on my face many times, sliding almost to hell it seemed but the Lord picked me up again and I am eternally grateful, literally. Thanks for the reminder. Janet
