I hunger for words to fill my palette
To taste the juices of scrumptious muse
To smack my lips with spontaneous integrity
And roll them around my dynamic tongue
I hunger for a world of peace
But it seems not on the menu
Because I am searching for delicacies inside a cheap diner
By the side of a road leading nowhere
Inside a dream drained of sustenance
I would love to taste the waitress’s flower
Positioned on her blouse
Next to her heart
I hunger for a good porterhouse steak
With shallots and portabellas
And of course, a glass of red wine
But my hunger will just have to roost
For those really tender loins
Reminds me of another "Diner"-write of yours, last autumn. Hmmm... a tasty waitress can make a mouth water, whether it be The Savoy Grill or The Greasy Spoon! You must be a ham'n'eggs man... fruit would be my banquet of choice: just can't get enough of it!! Exotic and juicy write, Jude! LOL Kate xx
I see you choose the right wine with your meat of choice. WTG

This hunger is a symbol of inner quest...the obstacles and disturbances are Trophe(d) in the adjectives, which give a jarring effect (I think deliberate to explain the situation)...
Very involving and atmospheric poem, it has a primary and a secondary meaning from transcendental perspectives...
Sometimes our dreams seem to be too well rooted in reality for us to realize them. Often times I wish that, as I am soaring, I was not required to keep at least one foot firmly planted upon the ground. One day as I transcend the ethers and feed my body to the earth, my dreams will all be realized; in the meantime, I will hold on to them with all of my might. Very deep write, Robert. There are lots of emotions scattering within the verses, like a sea of dominoes falling one into the other.
Take care,
Sherry

I stopped to imagine each taste, then reached the end with a smile of understanding
