~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would sit for hours in your garden
Overflowing with color and aroma
Arousing my senses with the utter beauty of life
I loved how your garden
Flowed with exotic flowers
Like a living painting shaped by a master
And the tang of fresh earth
Was so invigorating
It made me feel alive and at home
At times your smile
Would blossom like a flower
So vivid and colorful
The entire garden
Would blush with envy
At times your voice would fill the air
Like a mysterious sense of perfume and spice
In these moments it seemed paradise was found
Even for a fleeting moment
In these moments I would listen to you
And concentrate on your sighs
And try to let you know
That you shouldn’t cry
But you said your tears that fell to the ground
Kept your garden growing
And would keep you alive
I knew my words were like hopeless breezes
Upon a worn and tired soul
And so I would listen to your heartache
Now when I sit in your garden
The flowers are gone
All the branches are bare
Yet I can still feel the wonder
You planted in my heart
So long ago
And so far away
It is funny how a place can linger in our minds long after the love has faded the memory of that place or sometimes an object can reawaken the memories of that love.A really romantic write Robert that I'm sure a lot of us can relate to,
This one brought my tears, touched my soul deeply Jude. Some we share our souls with are so full of life, beauty and color, even in the midst of sorrow and death they become unforgettable.
You have captured something so beautiful,here, Jude. It is true, it seems to me, that some people can have that effect on anything with which they come into contact: that the world that they enter just "lives and breathes" because of their very presence, because of their charismatic qualities and irrespective of their mood. Some have the gift and are embued with the ability to sow "life and colour" in the world and into the outer and inner landscapes of others. This reminds me of the fairytales of Cinderella and Snow White - THOSE kind of personal qualities. Once you have met such a person, you can never be the same again: their "life" and effects stay with you for ever. This poem lives and breathes with a light and tensile emotion, spoken from the heart: a beautiful mirror reflecting straight back that of which you speak. The rhythm and flow are like a River of Life running through it and the images delightful. TY for this creation - a perennial!! Kate xx
This write touched my heart and soul, Robert. Some memories are so precious that they retain their vivid beauty and replay the moments we spent, throughout our lifetime. They seem so long ago and yet, they seem like only yesterday.
Take care,
The last stanza says so much about you. Well, all of it does. And in these genius poems you write about the way you see things, I wonder how you became so prolific, so interested and observant. A blessing and a gift from someone long ago and far away. This is beautiful and it makes me cry.
I started looking at this, wishing for spring, to get back on my hands and knees, playing in mother earth. Then I was changed (or transformed?) into blossoming from the love and nuture of another. Great poem. I now have a new "feeling" about my little garden...
