~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After the ferry ride all seemed different
I’m not sure what it was but time itself seemed to be suspended
Like a slow-mo montage of you standing by the bay
Your eyes were like silky emeralds
Your voice embedded into my soul
Like a warm yet distant flow of inspired notions
Leaving me with a sense of awe
For you were always replete
With a wonderful mysterious silence
We would sit and wonder of timeless ventures
And dreams forming within our worlds never to be known
In many ways you were just like me
In many ways I did not know you
In many ways we had always touched each other
So we left it at that
Accepting differences we will always share
Acknowledging the varieties of our experience
And our deep desire to reveal
The movement we hid within ourselves
At times we would open the floodgates
To be swept away by our mutual revelations
Yet we knew circumstance had the upper hand
For the cove was too far and too deep
After the ferry ride I would often wonder
How is it that I left you standing by the side of the bay?
Oh, the beautiful *Bay of Circumstance* has the sacred kiss of melancholy. It drips with bittersweet tears.
Circumstance's is part of the flow, that is part of the mystery. This is a very romantic write that I am sure many of us have experienced one way or another. Life is exciting even when it drives us crazy. How indeed did you leave her by the bay?
A revelation and question that women may ponder as to why some men do not continue to pursue them.
This is like a flashback opening to a novel. I want to read more, I want to know more, because I had a similar experience. If you had the chance, would you challenge circumstance for the chance to love her? Why was the cove "too far and too deep"? Would the "dreams never to be known" be as beautiful and powerful if they had been fulfilled? You write beautifully about human frailty...
It is amazing how some people touch us in a special way, as though they know our soul and we theirs. Somehow, we seem to understand that the time is not right and we walk away but we never forget. That memory haunts us for the rest of our days. Perhaps they will come into another lifetime and perhaps we already know that this will be so. This is a haunting write, Robert, one that echoes my own experience. This is excellent!
Take care,
Sherry
I suppose that is the essential question how do you leave someone standing anywhere. Perhaps it was because of the revelations it was not to be.
