what did I write today?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What shall I write about today?
Perhaps a flowery rainbow-filled poem
With children dancing upon the sand
And kites flying high
Perhaps about the love between a man and woman
And how they set each other on fire
Or drive each other insane
Or a poem about human suffering
And the dire state of the world as we know it
Or fantasy-laced dreams filled with esoteric significance
Maybe a poem about the material indifference
Of wealth and poverty
In our souls and encompassing our world
Let’s see, maybe there is a poem out there
Reaching out from the heavens
Like a lover’s embrace
Landing in my heart like ice and steel
Seducing me with candles and wax
Melting onto the structure of my voice
Forming along the edges of this poem
By my calculation, seven times more than me. For I only write once a week, while you write every day. What if I wrote only once a year? I'd still have enough poems for a book. Write on!!! (and on... ?)
Robert,
Right here: "Let’s see, maybe there is a poem out there
Reaching out from the heavens
Like a lover’s embrace
Landing in my heart like ice and steel
Seducing me with candles and wax
Melting onto the structure of my voice"
is the crux of the poem, containing the meaning of
everything above and below it!
Excellent and deep, as always!
"What shall you write today?" You've just written it. I think this one is my favorite...to date
Great piece and the seduction of words
isn't that why we write?
Yes, the process of formulating a poem is a seduction and like any seduction, one must be open to the advance...a tenderness at first when the poem enters your mind and then a fever of fired synapses which results, one hopes, in a thunderous climax...
... and then taking a life of its own and jumping out of the pen to have a dialogue with you, as you both sit or run or fly, but certainly breathe (live) about the page. That's poetry!
...Well, for starters, I guess you could write something that is a positively charged essence which filters through the infinite stratums of universal thought, guided by the great imagination and motivated by the energy to become what it aspires to reveal... but then, you just did! You are what you write and write what you are... the rest of us will stick to colouring books... :)) LOL Kate xx
We never know don't we...all depends on the moodswing or something walking by....or even a tragedy that strikes...and nails you to the ground.
Nope we never know what may come up...even a seagull might poop on our heads today huh?!! That could be humor for us but great anger for someone else!!
I was hoping to have time today to sit and write, but I have been so busy since about 4 am that now I am too tired to listen to my muse. Instead I will read your poem and imagine a bit about each of the topics you mentioned and consider myself blessed to at least have poetry in my heart, soul and mind if not committed to the page. This is an interesting peek into the workings of your mind, Robert. Looks pretty nice from here! ;~)
Take care,
Sherry
