~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I watched you dance across the meadow
Like an angel whose domain was born from color
The color of life’s blossoming splendor
A spectrum residing in your vibrant heart
I watched your hair sway and your dress bounce
To the wind’s spatial décor
And all around your aura
A dynamic warmth emanated to the heavens
An inner confidence surrounded you
As I watched you watch the flourishing landscape
As if you were in tune with something special:
Surprisingly I realized you were touching yourself
Unknowingly, I became a voyeur
Of an unforeseen beauty unfolding within you
Dare I turn my head?
And lose the connection? The true beauty within is too rarely seen to turn away from!
Turn your head when there is obviously something rare here thats to be gifted to you? Don't fear what you probably know will eventually bring you pain. I have learned that turning away causes even more pain...
Oh Jude, how sexy, sensual, alluring this piece is. Absolutely captivating. I've always felt there is a connection between my spirituality and sexuality and I feel you've captured this bonding in THE UNINTENTIONAL VOYEUR.
Beautiful, and what I have come to expect when reading a 'Jude piece.'
This is a treat on many levels - becoming the unintentional voyeur of the unintentional voyeur ala Sherry's commen, the exquisite flair with which you treat the subject and particulary the way you set up the scene, leaving us on the precipice with that perfect ending... oh, and then there are the comments from all the other unintentional voyeurs you've created with this wonder of a write...
This is wholly glorious, Jude. Such burgeoning and innocent fruitfulness, wonder and exploration. I think you have touched on (!) something very special here: how closely our sexuality is entwined with our spirituality and creativity. I believe they flow from and the through the same sources and blend into a wondrous harmonic voice. Do angels touch themselves? They live in a "heightened state of bliss", so we understand, so, in that way, must be experiencing some sort of orgasm all the time. And, let's face it, isn't the fleshy experience only a foreshadowing of what we understand the spiritual and creative "raptures" to be? Absolutely. Biblical language and metaphor is filled with this parallel and doesn't seem to me to subdivide them in the way that we in our po-faced cultures have ways of doing: there's a much healthier, more holistic approach to our "passions". And voyeur?! Both voyeur and participant, I would estimate, because, taking this into poetry - which I believe you always do - isn't this what we are doing all the time?! Delighting in and sharing with each other's orgiastic delight in the creation and experiencing of great poems? And would we think of turning our heads?! Never!! You've got me totally off on this... beats getting fat on the Ben&Jerry's, that's for sure - and the health benefits are great!! (((: WTG, TY Kate xx
Dear Jude,
I don't always know whether poems are written from personal experience or whether they are snippets of an imagination at work. I often write about things that I have not personally experienced. Poetry allows me to adopt a vicarious position and write as either an observer or sometimes the participant. This is what this feels like to me. I have seen men 'touching themselves' in a public place and it didn't have quite the same appeal ;-) This is so in your face it is irresistible. I wonder if anyone could turn their heads.
Great write as always!
from the first line...it is beyond words.
There is no such a thing as an "unintentional voyeur", you know very well why you watch and of course you wouldn't turn that head, never spurn any chance at whatever is forthcoming...to the master, my applause...Peace, Ed & Rufuz
There is a bit of the voyer in all of us, Robert. I felt like I was watching you watching her as I was reading...oooh double-secret-voyerism. ;) Peeking into another's thoughts or watching them in their most natural state is always so intriguing...nevermind how intriguing it always is to watch someone touch themsleves...by invitation or by chance. Never turn away...getting caught is half the fun!
Take care,
Sherry
