Leaves of Thought

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leaves fall into a millpond
From a tree above my head
Each leaf slowly drifts down
Onto the water’s surface
Like a miniature lifeboat
Searching for someone to rescue
Slowly these leaves gather
Embraced by the summer breezes
Forming into a collage of color
Into a mass of hidden visions
Where patterns of daring dreams adhere
To all that I know
And entertain what I can remember
And relive what I am to become
Sort of like reading tea leaves
Without having to drink the tea
While gazing into life’s magical chalice
Analyzing the trance reflection
From within this random soliloquy of purpose
From this latent symphony of drifting leaves
I see my destiny glowing
have just read about 10 of your poems, reading backwards by date. the final image you offer in this, the last of the poems I've missed of yours, is, I think, something I've been straining to see - the hope of "my destiny glowing" mirrored back at me. or some sign of good fortune, a turning tide to meet my rest in God and my best foot forward. so then, it seems your own "random soliloquy of purpose" has done it. your words and ideas are hope reflected. a sincere thank you, Dawn
Yes indeed. This is why this country girl likes to go fresh-water fishing. The water, the nature, the serenity all blend together and take you to that calm place of clarity where you can see what it is you are meant to do. So, are you saying I don't have to bring any tackle, just sit on the bank and inhale?
You know this is not the first time I've been by this poem. I think the first two times your words must have hypnotized me and in a trance I wandered off and forgot to review. :-) I'm still sort of staring at the poem like it's one of those spinning hypno wheels. LOL
Must be the leaves spinning on the water's surface as I drift into the glow of my destiny. You know, Shaman, you've got to stop doing this. Turn the frequency down there in the Bronx. I can't take it here in Jersey, being all vibrational the way I am. Hehe. Lovely, profoundly transforming poem, Jude.
I leaves my thoughts here and there, and once in a while find em again. Whoda thunk that I'd find em floating on a millpond? Good write.
The power of these falling leaves is in their ability to embody and reflect the shimmering essence of a soul dedicated to the truth of the journey of its own being. In doing so, they help to create a path along which others may stroll and encounter their own healing "Leaves of Thought."
Don't you like tea, then?! :)) Love the meditative and transcendental qualities to this, Jude, bringing a sense of fresh equilibrium, balance and detox to the soul, and instilling new vision and a sense of peaceful harmony... like a hum! Has the yin-yan of warmth and coolness, too. Forwards, backwards; up and down. Kind of a complete poetic workout-cum-healthspa whilst supping on some exotic fruit cup. Thanks for the revival; I was beginning to think that my air supply had been cut off, but this is quite the mouth-to-mouth resus.... I'll just take this intravenously today, rather than the Earl Grey: cheers!! Hope you're feeling equally glowing and back in great shape again. LOL Kate xx PS ARE you the great WW reincarnated?! :))
You made me feel all dreamy with the leaves toppling softly into the water; what a beautiful image you painted. Water reflects back to us but also mirrors that which is above us. The leaves are a subtle reminder of the ways that we are bound to the earth. In the end, we, like the leaves, will try to save the world from itself as we commit our self back to the earth giving back all that we borrowed from her for this leg of our eternal journey. Excellent reflective write, Robert.
Take care,
Sherry
The concept of leaves, be it tea or from a maple is a beautiful simile for those who can read either and see their future entwined in their formation.
Reviewed on June 28, 2005
Very interesting indeed, Robert! I've often known that people read into tea leaves that are left at the bottom of the cup; but I've never heard anyone reading the pattern of falling leaves. This was something different.
