~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my dream, I am balancing on a tightrope
High above a battlefield of sand and blood
I see explosive flashes and cloud of smoke
And can hear voices scream
And chaos bloom
The tightrope
In not tethered on either side
It’s just attached to the air
And I am synchronized in the wind
Swaying back and forth
Hovering over the décor of warring flesh
Where harmful vibes
Are trying to push me off the rim
Of a somewhat precarious membrane
Here, the icy frost of elevation
Leaves me sleeping on the edge of my bed
Dreaming of a world suspended in limbo
Consumed by its own activity
Trying to balance its nightmares and dreams
Surrounding the dreamer within us all
It will never balance as long as we love to procreate and war. The Lord giveth anmd taketh away--in disporportionate numbers.
Hang in there. Love your insight.
the balance of thought is a fine line isn't it? It can feel like a nightmare and yet be full of pleasure at the same time. I am enjoying this line of thought you have been sharing with us, with your dreams and preception.
Dear Jude,
It's been a while, I have certainly missed your intense and intriguing writes. This one definitely got me thinking how strangely powerful a mind can be... or is.
"The tightrope
Is not tethered on either side
It’s just attached to the air"---> we are one with the universe, where most things are possible, if we only believe. Astral travel/projection both interconnected, relaying messages from the astral body to the physical body, hence the fine line of balancing on the untethered tightrope. The reminder to hold on to make the safe return to the physical body, perhaps in time when finding yourself sleeping on the edge of your bed. The mind of one who seeks the answers. May you find what you seek. Take care, and be good to yourself Jude.
warm hugs and love
You've taken the familiar "falling-off" dream to new heights, Jude (oops... there's a pun in there, isn't there? smile) My great respect for your work is intact, though...
"décor of warring flesh"
You know something? I felt an instant and very real "ping" on my flesh when I read this interesting juxaposition of words... these are those moments in your poetry, for me, that set you apart.
(You will, of course, excuse the above humorous bent... I think it's in my blood... smile). katy xox
Jude, dreaming is my favorite place to be, I wanna be there a lot! I have dreams like this and more. I can fly in my dreams and I love it. I also visit my relatives that have passed to another plane and it's awesome. You're awesome and I have come to care for you and your work! Bravo!
Jude,
"Hovering over the décor of warring flesh" <---That is
an intense line and visual! You are able to convey the
ethereal feeling of being the "observer", it's a strong quality
in your work!
stark and dark imagery, Sir Ace. can smell the death and destruction. our world is indeed suspended in limbo/purgatory--and, sadly, that is no dream!
expressive, powerful write.
now dream something nice-- for balance, dear Poet.
The world is indeed suspended in air with nothing holding it on either side, precarious and ready to fall into the nothingness of space.
The knife-edge of existance, where the counterbalance of life and death, regeneration and decay keep us "fighting fit" physically, mentally and spiritually. Depending on the degree of tension, the edge that you are walking sounds to me like either this tightrope, or, in a more peaceful situation, a hammock where you are gently being rocked... so this bed could either be a grave or a womb, depending on circumstance. As usual, I digress and take tangents, but I like this poem because it sets up an allegory of what it means to be alive: we can only truly be so when we are caught up in the fight, the need to overcome. Listless inertia is death, but perfect equilibrium and stillness must be heavenly peace - gained, in one sense, through holding the tension between the two extremes. And yeah, I know what it feels like to wake up virtually falling off that edge of the bed! Have slept there just tooooo long. :)) PS love the idea of the world in limbo, consumed by its own activity: makes me think of a juggler spinning loadsa plates on tall and bendy sticks! Is that a peculiarly Brit trick?! Kate xx
You seem to be suspended between good and evil. Below you is hell on earth, yet your life is held in the balance on a tightrope that only belief and God could keep suspended against gravity; above you is the sky and the eternity that we have been promised. The physical draw is to the earth, and the spiritual is to the heavens, you are suspended between them both as you struggle to hold yourself above the horror that is the flesh of man. The more steps we achieve on our journey along the stairway to heaven, the more we fear the potential for falling back down into the mire. Excellent introspective write/dream.
Take care,
Sherry
Your dream presents the world in its present
state. Your struggle against the evil forces that tries to
sway the truth from your eyes.Your line
"Consumed by its own activity"is a frightening
reality, as we are all in the futile mode of filling
our minds with everything but the truth until finally
we will have devoured our own senses...
Chilling and excellent vision...
