~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I never promised anything
Simply because I’ll never know
How often we recreate ourselves
Even in the next instant
All I wanted to do is unveil our feelings
Rather than experiencing them
So we could earnestly
Interpret our motivations
By just allowing them to happen
And by keeping the moment
Alive within our motion
We would see the warmth
We could only dream of
I never told you who I was
Or assume I knew the way you are
For when it comes down to it
We’re both the same
Yet uniquely different
And everything seemed to depend on knowing
What we cannot observe
By embracing the matrix
Of all that is still to be known
So when we rebelled against the limitations
We imposed upon each other
We were allowing ourselves to express our freedom
In tolerating how we saw ourselves
And we were able to offer glimpses
Of what we were really seeing
And in a moment of reflection
We were finally able to offer
Transmissions between our hearts and souls
Realizing we can never lose
What we give to ourselves
Even as we were fleeing each other
Whoa, Jude! This goes straight to the "Tai-Tien" or "Hara",
it hits on the realization of the whole self as a single entity!But that isn't all, there is so much here...this poem needs to be taken in slowly to grasp all of its intense and soul touching meanings!
Really exceptional piece, Jude!
You are in a class by yourself with one magnificient poem after another that stirs the gray matter, or what's left of it, in my dome. I truly believe no matter how long you have been with a person you will never fathom what lies in their soul. You will get glimpses and many pieces to the puzzle but never be able to complete the mystery of this person that you know.
To thine own self be true and the rest will follow. If we can just look inside ourselves and simply observe and share who and what we are, it all seems to work and fall in its proper place. Your first stanza is a show stopper.
Jude, my head hurts again. Kate obviously gets it so I'm going to read her comment and your poem again. I do know that there's something of freedom in the balance between knowing and not knowing (and knowing you'll never really know) another. I have two very distinct emotional reactions fighting within me right now. On the one hand, it is beyond me how you seem to see a sort of intellectual distance as a positive. It just doesn't fit my view of why we're here, which has to do with a fuller experience. On the other hand, my heart is doing cartwheels at the second to last stanza - because, no matter how painful, this rings very true to my own experience with all sorts of relationships. I will have to keep this one awhile and mull it over. Stellar poetry. Dawn
An excellent fathoming of the Rubix cube of mind and emotion; trying to get a grip of one's own is bad enough (particularly when you inhabit at least two?!), but how it fits with another is usually a puzzle that takes time, effort and commitment to work out. All relationships need work and maintenance, but some just seem to slide into each other more naturally than others, I guess - like the coming together of Mother ship and space shuttle (... wonder which one of my minds thought of that one?!). Hmmm, I find this intensely cathartic; it always has amazed me that people seem to equate being "over-emotional" as giving full-rein to, or displaying fully one's emotions... I tend to think that the opposite is true: that people who are "over"-emotional are actually AFRAID of their feelings, and so bottle them out of the way. What I like about how I've read the interaction here is the grace, honour and liberty you bestow on the integrity of showing, and being allowed to show, emotional HONESTY - saying "this is how it is" without being either judged for it, or necessarily expecting/premeditating any sort of response in return. In fact, I love this. Have just realised that, as someone who has been circumstantially conditioned "not to feel" all my life - or to feel only that which others want me to - I have become more or less an emotional "freedom-fighter" - seeking to help others bring their feelings to light, and not to feel anything other than honest about them. After all, we can't help WHAT we feel - that's the truth, isn't it? It's what we then DO with the feelings that perhaps infringes the freedoms of others in our paths and circles. True "transmission" between hearts and souls can only come when there is this openness and clarity - and trust, perhaps. So, in a nutshell (!!) you're so right. Being totally honest with both self and another can only make for win-win. I knew there was a good reason for leaving your review until last today.... :)) One question, though: how can you "unveil feelings" and not experience them? Otherwise, "feeling" is a misnoma, init?!! I like the dynamic tension of the attract/repel magnetic tension in this exchange. As always, you have an uncanny ability to take the more-or-less abstract and chart it, like a map of the night sky. Night Night.. Kate xx
"We’re both the same
Yet uniquely different"
Blessed is he/she who can preceive a person's differences, respect their right of being who they choose by honoring their individuality and freedom of choice ... and still remain close! LOL, not so easy to do, is it? Most of us, are constantly changing/evolving, whether we realize it or not. Placing mental and physical limitations on our relationships allow us the freedom "to stay or flee." A very, intriguing write, Jude!
Jude you seem to have captured that moment in a relationship where it is the do or die phase and yes it is because of the unveiling of all the little imperfections that must be accepted for love to finally grow.
Sometimes we are so intent upon understanding the deepness of the spirit of another, that we are unable to appreciate the animal of the human attached to that spirit; or vise/versa. We humans are dynamic beings in that we are spiritual and animal, a most confusing mix to be certain. The most difficult thing is to touch and be touched by both aspects simultaneously and to be able to appreciate both. Usually we miss the mark and learn to love only one or the other side of them and we must flee from a relationship where we cannot appreciate the entire package. Great write that stimulates deep analytical thinking on the part of the reader.
Take care,
Sherry
