~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The curtains to your room flutter in the wind
Gently pulsating to a midnight breeze
I sense a storm approaching
Can feel its far-off presence
Saturate your distant gaze
In the distance, a dark neon-blue horizon
Penetrates through you
As though you suspended on a cloud
Of tempestuous visions
Your silhouette
Filters through the drapes
As though you are in a theater
Where I am your audience
And the stage is surreal
With an ambiance of wonder
And a mysterious sense of light
Illuminates the darkness surrounding you
Time seems to have stood still:
It is your undeniable enemy and your irrefutable friend
It is your salvation
And your sentence
I watch you staring into your dreams
Where they lead
I may never know
But I do know I am around you
Applauding
As I watch you bleed
Jude, This is stunning poetry. Not sure if you are talking about yourself in pain and an angel is watching over you, or a loved one is in pain and you are watching over them. It can be interpreted either way. In any event, time heals all wounds. Pain does subside and love can rejuvenate anything. Love yourself, your loved one, your dear friends and love will shine within your soul too. I am always in awe of the way that you write, this poem was written in 2005, you must get your poetry back to this depth of emotions. You are a fantastic writer and no one can touch a reader like you. I am speechless and in awe of your talent.
So much more to say, but I just want you to know, that I am here for you. In mind, body and spirit.
Much peace, light and love,
Amber
Just DON'T believe it... thought this reminds me of Delicate Movements, so have been across and seen my old comments about the window cleaner! That soooo happened to me today... was having a "funny five minutes" with me music at full blast, frickin out... turned round to find the window cleaner at my upstairs window trying to look somewhere else! Ain't life just so strange? Curiouser and curiouser... As for this, this reminds me of dressing up as Goth Girl! :)) This kind of close attention would be enough to make anyone into a bit of a drama queen! Notwithstanding the supposed anguish of your subject, it somehow seems to be perceived as a necessary one, or one, at least, that the "you" has to conquer alone. Even when one individually has to face things "head on", in full possession of the facts, it is still good to know that an appreciative audience is with you, willing you through and cheering you on! You write lightly and encouragingly. The tone and diction seem to me to be very similar to Delicate Movements. And, whatever time is, it certainly waits for no man or woman in the temporal sense. Hmmm, is eternity, therefore, a measurable quantity or does it stand, like God, outside of time?... Bit too late for all of that now... I'm off - YEY! Have just completed my college script! School's out, Alice! xx
Some times we hope a person gets to the point of bleeding so that they may see and feel what needs healing. It's the way I interpret your last three lines. You have the gift of observation and interpretaion. I admire you.
Metaphysical deeply atmospheric poem.
It is your salvation
And your sentence
Some paradox.
Yet there feels a comforting warmth for the muse in this prophetically surreal work..
Sometimes we are just there to be an undeniable support and guiding force for someone who must face the challenges of their life and battle their own demons. Though it would be much easier to turn our heads while they bleed, we must maintain our focus if we are to help guide them on their journey and into the light. Often times we are just the illuminated lane markers on their road of life, offering a gentle reminder when they are veering from their forward path. Excellent and powerful write, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
Jude, reading this just before I'm off to an important meeting. Saw the title and almost didn't read it as I'm gathering as much positive energy to me as possible this am. Glad I did. These lines are everything to me personally. I intend to make time my friend, bleeding or not. This distillation of thought you've managed without forfeiting the magnificent stage you set is brilliant. It is such a privilege always to read your work, Dawn
This could easily be a narration to the 60s vampire show Dark Shadows, the mysterious narrator coming down the creaking, winding staircase after having watched Angelique bleed. The Fangs of Jude in the year 2005 might be a more fitting title to a cinematic version of Watching You Bleed. Have a goblet of deep red wine, Jude, and get every blood red drop. The stage is surreal. That big gold nugget ring on your finger is an undeniable enemy ... only when you feed into the darkness.
