In the premises of reasoning we must be operating within a framework of logical sequences which will give our actions meaningful purposes. Well that is how i perceive the view you expressed in this poem.

Total spiritual meltdown! Each stanza a golden link in the circular chain of truth - which is not subject to reason or rational thinking, but just "is". And how we need to discover it, if such exists, because our ignorance and unbelief makes no difference to its reality - but our lack of understanding of it certainly affects ours! However, having discovered truth, doesn't that cause us to have to yield to and live by it, therefore "enforcing" certain codes of behaviour that should be for everyone's benefit? Isn't this the "way back home"? Perfect liberty isn't perhaps a total lack of restraint/constraint, but going about things in such a way as to follow the vast designs of integrity that creates these wide open spaces for everyone. Joseph's comment about no one truly being free until all are free reminds me of a lyric in a song recorded by The Blind Boys of Alabama... "None of us is free... none of us is free if one of us is chained, then none of us is free". Another well-contructed, thoughtful and succinct signpost write, Jude. TY Kate xx
You write of the things that are beyond the perspective of man. The pieces of the universal truth where there is no opinion, there only is. Universal justice and harmony is nature itself. Therefore all that happens within her scope is of its own design and therefore part of her truth. The savagery that we enact upon one another (as well as the love) is because it can be. We can only hope to evolve beyond the base creatures we are and strive to explore the unknown together - wide-eyed and full of the knowledge that we are creation and what we create is ourselves.
Integrity, truth, justice(whether natural or spiritual) and reason. These are ingridents needed for the universe to go forward. I am marvelled at the truth you told in this poem, Jude. Great write!

Perfect justice...now there is a term that is hard to come to grips with in this day and age but perhaps the universe does have a way to deal with things.

You give us a lot to ponder here Ace. I believe that no one is truly free until all are free.
I agree with Sherry in the sense that perfect liberty, or freedom, needs to be intrinsical before it can make our actions, and the reactions of others to them, reflect it extrinsically. Also, there needs to be a complementary (also intrinsical) candidity, in the sense that while understanding the paradox of uncivilized civilization, we need to imbibe and then release a hope, even a belief, in evolution towards enlightment. In all this, dear Poet, being true to ourselves and not to fear the fact that we all make mistakes along the path, because we can learn from them and thus grow, will make up for that other inescapable fact that we can't please them all, ever. I'm a deep admirer of those who, like you, always seek to "see everything in its vast design", and express such quest in remarkable writings full of significance.

Peace, liberty and freedom are things that come from inside us and not from the environment in which we live. These are not things that are granted to us by others but rather gifts that we give to ourselves. We cannot know freedom if we try to control anything or anyone else and we can't know liberty if we feel that we have a right to judge others ways and views. We cannot know peace if we don't live in peaceful harmony with everything/everyone that we are in contact with. It all begins with the individual and most of us don't have the inner strength or security with self to accept and understand that we cannot control the tides or the wind as we captain our ship through the seas of our life. Excellent poem and observations, Jude.

Perfect liberty is where psychologically normal people face an abrupt collision. I sanction married priests, atheist ministers, and Jewish Zen Buddhists, psychedelic churches, "free universities," science culture in the Arctic, and lesbian wife-swapping clubs in California! We are in a firestorm of change and nobody wants to change. No tolerance, no meeting in the middle, just their opinion goes! "Only the perfection of hope and truth can deliver its perfect liberty" can undo the spawning of hate and prejudice in all of social flora. Outrageous conformists make my kaleidoscope run wild!
The sad part is that, so far the Creator is still the only one with enough integrity to see the vast design! Though His spirit is within us we still cannot see with His eyes to bridge that gap, because we are still too uncivilized! We have the words and the concept, but not the will! We allow too many earthly distractions...Superb poem!
