simplicity meets gentlest purity. shake it again, Jude. as I write that I'm actually shaking a snow globe on the desk where I am (which is filled with polar bears playing) and reading contemplating the wonder of this little haiku again. let's soak up some more of that wonder! Dawn

This captures of the feeling of the first snowfall, not just the sight but the essence of it. Great write.
This is as in catching snowflakes on black velvet squares and looking at them through a magnifying glass, where no two are the same. Each snowflake is different and special.
AND ... this is as in Zen where the zen garden is simple, with rake lines in a swirl.
Together, snowflakes falling on a pristine zen-raked garden make for a mantra: Simplicity, Simplicity, Simplicity. Thanks for the zen ku, Jude.
Not a frequent form followed by the inspiration of your pen... but a precious treat. You write them with all the powerful subtlety that makes a haiku "feel good" in the soul of the reader.

...Hope Turner's not right otherwise I am going to get severely snowed in on Dartmoor with The Hound of the Baskervilles when I go away on Thursday!! On the exceedingly little I know, I have to agree with Debs and this is a polished, pefected little crystal. Love the line breaks, altering the sense of meaning perhaps: Hope is indeed a pristine garden and is a great source of wonderment, given it's unyielding, unceasing, effervescent source, springing eternal. The purification of snow on top of hope makes the whole like a total detox of body, mind and spirit... just what a fevered brow needs, perhaps, even more than the Tamiflu!! :)) Funny, bossy postmaster has just said that the mail I sent you last night has been delayed; I was thinking of sending you my feather - in a snowglobe! Very tranquil and peaceful thoughts here, Jude... hope and wonder-filled.... oh, and Merry Christmas (can I say that??!!) if I don't make it back from Dartmoor this weekend...!! LOL Kate xx
ahhhhhh...you take me back to my childhood when my paternal grandmother had her home filled with snow globes (which she called snowstorms) at the holidays. Being from Southern California and never having been in a snowstorm I would spend hours playing with all the globes, imagining myself within each one of the scenes. We have what I call Disneyland snow where I live now. It all melts off by noon except for on the mountains and the tops of the mesas. Beautiful Haiku, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
Enchanting and about one of my favorite things snow..I am sitting here in Canada with my christmas decorations up outside waiting with bated breath for that first snowfall. Great Ku Jude.
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
lovely work, Jude.
