~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the table
A large bowl of fruit
Complements her eyes
The sweet nectar of life
Luring her passion
To taste the colors only flesh tones offer
As the black and white silhouette
Of his presence
Outlines the gray matter in her substance …
A spectrum of suspense
Dances about a marble fireplace
And around a mahogany bed
Heated impulses restlessly slumber …
Through the window
She watches the city dance
Across shadows of dusk and neon
And imagines herself
Within mysterious arms
Of someone she knows but cannot remember
Here, the drama of hidden lifetimes
Bounces off the glass skyscrapers
And captures the horizon of her thoughts
She wonders what tomorrow will bring
Perhaps she’ll be lying across the table
Like a palette
Coloring the fruits of their desires
Dear Jude,
Your never fail to titillate the senses with your beautifully crafted poetry, so much depth within and around your writing. Thank you for another stunning and very "palatable" offering.
Jude,
I think of all your work, I enjoy you most in this vein. Not to take away from anything else, you just capture intimacy very, very well. Right here:
"Through the window
She watches the city dance
Across shadows of dusk and neon"
Perfect!
If tomorrow finds her "lying across the table like a palette", he will surely splash all her colours upon the canvas like the "fruits of their desires".
Now I am starving for fruit and thinking about getting my paints out. This seems a little different from your usual writing. I really like the texture, color and mystery. Well done, Jude.
The table is a fun place to be ;-)
Love the atmosphere you have created with a very unique style of writing, using words that don't normally get used in this form. Love it as it shows you enjoy a challenge :-)
This is the Jude Ace writing that I really enjoy :-)
Vivid and stark images add fire to your words here Jude and allow the reader to drink in the scene you create as well as use imagination to create tomorrows scenes. Well done.
Like the opening scene description of a screenplay. We're to fill in the lines between the lines and color them with our own imaginings. What is it like, I wonder, for a man to enter into her drama and be left wanting, being of substance--not a fantasy of vague remembering
of another lifetime. She closes her eyes and he becomes the love of her vision and then a ghost in the shadow of that fruited bowl. Brilliant, Jude...Lin
I've got the butter! Fabio, I cannot believe it's not butter! He's too young and chiseled to remember tablets were put in the butter to color it yellow! My God, I've been on meltdown for days now, lead poet...let's put you on the Romance novel cover, 'Palette of Desires.' Here's a banana to fit the curve! Go get your hair done, angel man! Photo shoot at midnight on the butcher-block kitchen table! Bees buzzin' the honey!
... Reminds me I haven't thought to do an Artist and Model write for a while... and Peter's comment about the postman brings to mind that this is again like the window-cleaner, sneaking a peak at the ballet queen in Delicate Movements??!! :)) You are masterful at creating ambience and atmosphere, and your tone with these writes is delightfully gauzy, light and breezy - very dreamlike and suggestive. I like the counter-tensions between the coloured and the monochrome; the tangible and the projected; the fict and the fact. A striking contrast of scenes, too, with the glass and chrome juxtaposed against the traditional lushness of wood and stone. Robin OH said on my Moving House poem last week, that houses are a Sunday afternoon preoccupation with the English... guess that must be true, then?! Oh... and cuisine too, he said... perhaps that's why I am also in the kitchen tonight, in that case, though far from the fantasised taste of beauty that is painted for us here. Delicate and sensitive as well-placed brushstrokes, Jude. TY Kate xx
Excellent, Robert. I could actually see her standing at the window looking out and wondering about her life.
You have done your job as a poet by painting a word picture that seems real to the reader.
A most provocative and deep poem that lured me in and played in gentle hues upon my soul. Masterfully written, well pulled together and exceptional content, this is the best I have read of yours lately; which is high praise considering the rest of your awesome writes.
Take care,
