~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The choice is ours
We can either pray for the sky to open up
And discharge upon the world
The vivacity to overcome its obstacles
Or regain control over of our dreams
By the sheer will to remember
Who the hell we are,
Heaven permitting, we have the audacity
To confirm
What we have known all along:
We are the source of our convictions
Even when we dismiss
Our responsibilities and reason
We are that which we seek
If we only peek into our hearts
The freedom to create an inspired world
Is with our grasp,
Breaking free from the formidable clasp
Forced upon us
By centuries of law, propaganda and religious zeal:
We are the winds of divine circumstance
And the laboratories of their creative application
Nothing can deter us from growing
When we apply our energies and resources
Nothing can stop us from collectively
Harnessing the powers within us
Only when we regain perspective
Only when we remember our bodies and souls
Are endless supplies of positive energy
Only when we evolve
Beyond the historical consequence
Of being our worst enemy
And acknowledge what we truly are:
Our best companion
The choice is ours
So true...we write about the same thing. I like it. As we think, so will it be.
A positive assurance that it is all about the attitude of our hearts. Prosperity and promotion frees us for wanting to reach back into the past for revenge on those who have wronged us. Each one of us has the keys to unlock the door to Our Best Companion. As you are, Jude, the wise choose to walk through it.
The good companion on many a poetic journey, Jude, you have discov ered the only way is IN - self-realization, and then there will be the peace that passeth all misunderstanding (to get biblical on you!). The light and shade of the world has puzzled philosophers for centuries.... sometimes it gets very dark and then the light really needs to burn brightly. I know of what you speak, and applaud your efforts to enlighten the community. Shine on!
A strong and convicted write. I'm sorry my reviews have been so sporadic. It's been hard to find the time to read and review the work of my favourite poets. It's really good to be reading yours again. Soon I hope to find the time to go back and read all that I've missed. Thanks for sharing your great talent Jude.
So very true, and I believe we are realising that commerece is just trickery, the amount of accumilated toys one has, only brings want, being content, only brings happiness...
"Only when we regain perspective Only when we remember our bodies and souls Are endless supplies of positive energy" Your entire poem is brilliant, but these lines hit me close to home. I have been working hard to turn my negative thoughts to positive ones. Thanks for the reminder.
Hey Jude, this one sounds like it could have come directly out of the mouth of Lennon as he talked to the press sitting beside ONo. You and I know that mankind could accomplish so much good in this world if all the forces of evil were harnessed. If armies could be abolished, big govenernments and all the trappings that go with them taken down, if the environment of industrial waste could be exchanged for the farms to feed the worlds hungry. Alas only a small percentage of us in this world will attempt to become as your poem works suggest.
A very deep, thought provoking. Yes we can be our best companion, while we can also be our own worst enemy,,especially when we have to confront something right there, right then,,we ask ouorselves would I have done anything different, if only I had a moment to stand back and look at the complete situation,,yet, most of us don't have that chance and sometimes it is best that we don't have that moment to do something different,,for it would not have turned out the way it was meant to be,,depite the facts at hand,,keep the ink flowing, you sure know how to keep our blood and curosity up, to what you can think of and share with those brillant thoughts,,clea
Nothing like the bald=faced truth put to us in a truly literary way as you have managed to do here, Jude. Although forces beyond our control may alter our lives, the real force behind our happiness or doom is within our thoughts and manner. It is, ultimantely, us who thrive or fail . . . All on our own. Very good, thought-provoking piece.
I've bin gettin the earth-tremors of this all weekend, like some volcano gettin ready to blow. Seems like you have amassed the full force of your metaphysical oceans to tsunami the furthest flung beach of your wildest dreams and highest aspirations here, Jude, takin us all along for the ride: all we can scream in reply is "Yes, YES!" :)) Ho, ho... Reminds me greatly of the crossroads in Freedom's Heart somehow; that same reasoning and setting out of an answer to an ever-present cleft stick. And I'm divining water here: I like it when you collect all the rivulets of philosophical thought and channel them into one obvious outflow and stream - like the inevitable flow of rivers to the sea. For me, the hinge or volta of the poem is the lines: "We are the winds of divine circumstance And the laboratories of their creative application", and it is interesting that, although almost central in the piece, you have decided to "hide" these lines, suggesting some undisclosed alchemy which is in the heart and mind of man, either to work the gift of self-determination and advancement to the good of all or to the destruction of many. As you suggest, we are the omnipresence, omniscience of wind and yet also the turbines that harness and produce its cause and effect...
And that's quite enough from me... goodness knows I can witter on til the cows come home, so I'll just go and bend their ears instead. Decisions, decisions.... LOL K xx
shazam! he's back in a flash with grand vision and laser-like insight. feels like it should be written in stone, broken in front of our golden calf, then written and delivered again... also, the internal rhyme works well as do phrases like "historical consequence / Of being our worst enemy" always good to read you - or your work at least :) Dawn
The truth is written upon this page, Jude. We have the power to live the life we have planned for ourself but we must listen only to the voice within, lest we be mislead by the screams of others. Powerful, positive write, Jude, it is nice to see your strength surfacing once again.
