the Body Poetic

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My body resonates with poetic opportunity
A syncretistic vessel fusing blood of reason
With the guts of creative thought
My body is a route to exotic ports
Supplying a cargo of metaphoric principle
It encompasses the means to differentiate
The allegorical conduit of expression
From the subjective appearance
Of traditional form and structure
My body is shaped by overlapping moments
Of light and dark:
By the substance of being
Grown into the stuff of becoming
It celebrates the dawn
While enveloping the dusk
It surrenders its sexual energy
To the diversity of passionate dreams
And exposes its nakedness
To the souls of artistic association
My body is a heaven of inspired revelations
And a hell of clichéd actions
It walks among the living
And speaks to the dead
Its lurks streets of neon and glass
While metabolizing into the aether of reflective mist
My body is alive with words seeking continuity
With aspirations of being fused
Into the creative body
Inside the poetic ideal
Who could doubt the beautiful truth, or the majestic beauty, of this exceptional work, draped as it is in the fabrics of mesmerizing artistry and the lights of noble spiritual intent? A wonderful celebration of poetry as philosophy, and vice versa, from the first syllable to the last.
The creative body of the lead poet does well to surround himself with the true souls of artistic creation. The reflective analogy in the Body poetic ideal is in the twin mirrors, which open the way to a feat, of both poetic and optical alchemy that can transmute starlight into total darkness. This feat of optical alchemy is called nulling interferometry and it relies on the fact that light waves have crests and troughs just like waves on the water.
"My body is shaped by overlapping moments
Of light and dark:
By the substance of being
Grown into the stuff of becoming"
By precisely aligning the light waves gathered by the two mirrors from a particular point in the sky, astronomers can overlap the wave crests from one mirror with the troughs from the other so that the light simply cancels out. For this scheme to succeed, the light beams have to be guided and merged with exquisite precision, just like the Body Poetic. You have the aspirations, the creative body, and inside, you are the poetic ideal, Jude.
Ooooo.... makes me want to rush and get my Homo Poeticus out of the closet for a repost! :)) This seems a membrane-breaking write to me, Jude... perhaps I just have them on the brain today for some reason. As Peter says, consummate indeed. A knife-edge also comes to mind - think it is the "membrane" of mirror-imaging, the proximity of the "real" and the "reflection": that's the "allegorical conduit" versus "subjective appearance" stanza. For some strange reason it reminds me greatly of the tone and vibrancy of "I wait for you..." and is perhaps a fulfillment of that. But it is a poem that has its sails wonderfully trimmed for venture and conquest and the wind is luffing up nicely, I'd say... !! K xx
Especially love the body is a heaven/hell of cliched actions couplet {if I may call it that). As for
"My body is shaped by overlapping moments
Of light and dark:
By the substance of being
Grown into the stuff of becoming
It celebrates the dawn
While enveloping the dusk" don't be surprised if I
start leaning on you to let me quote in part re a piece
about Dorothea Lange and photography that I am struggling
with. Black and white, light and shadow, so many thoughts,
so little time.
Thank you for posting this, robert jude. Very stimulating. 'Pea' <3
