There is a warrior within our dreamer
Combating our fears and doubts
Existing in our minds
Long before we were born
Calling to us
Even when we are not listening
It constantly struggles
To maintain our balance
Even if we deny its presence
There is a dreamer within our warrior
Who guides us through our battles of imagination
Who opens the portal
To every thought and vision
Together, they form
The essence of our character
They speak through us
And offer an amazing blend
Of hope and wisdom
They assist us in the perils our journey
Through life’s beginnings and endings
Never hesitating to inspire us
Never leaving us alone

An amazing poem. Elucidates a deep metaphysics of a productive and mystical balance in a unique, mythical way. I particularly liked the line "There is a dreamer within our warrior/Who guides us through our battles of imagination". Cheers, Kathy.

like the way you turn this and bring it back around. what I'm left with is the image of two parts of an inner self dancing, maintaining the delicate, beautiful balance of being. Dawn
Famous, End of the Trail artwork comes to mind here where the Indian is slumped on his horse with his lance, the warrior fighting 'til the end of the journey. The Dreamer asked the Warrior, "is this turkey gonna fly?" I say this poem is gonna fly long-term, as did sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski, who helped chisel the faces of four presidents on Mount Rushmore. The warrior uses pen and quill as well as dynamite and jackhammer, the warrior and the Dreamer, and our lead poet always with work in progress.

Yes indeed. When I've been present at births. One can see a mysterious yet look on the new borns face. As if it has all the answers... Until we teach them great things like, pingu, spot the dog, din dins...

I can't sleep, so I've capitulated and bashed out what I thought was a crap poem... anything for an easy life! :)) You have so much of the Native American in you at times and I love both Susan's take of the Muse, and Eileen's about male/female characteristic dualities which bring us uniquely into balanced human psyches. So much of modernity - as depicted by your Subway poem - dubs us down from being both the wild at heart and captivating personas we are created to be. My mother was "branded" as a gypsy by all the influential males in her life for bobbing her hair and piercing her ears. She kicked against the goads and I find myself becoming more and more like her. Love the notion this give me that the warrior protects the inspiration and the inspiration gives the warrior the will to fight. The Warrior and Dreamer make handsome bedfellows and I think I will sleep more peacefully now that you have highlighted here the mysterious and wonderful ways they work in harmony together to bring us into completeness, rather than fracture. It's a little while since I have had a new favourite Forese poem, but think this is it. A must to recite! :)) Just another cup of Earl Grey and I will be away with the fairies... just for a change! (Or is it the Pirates?!) Love this, thank you. K xx

My warrior had to do some serious kicking recently but I finally listened. Great write and thanks for the sharing.
A novel concept and one that is very intriguing. We have so many facets to our character, and it seems for each one there is an opposite. That duality, the yin yang that has always captivated me. Excellent poem Jude, warrior and dreamer something to delve into.
