~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sitting down on a bench
Next to a willow tree
Struggling to gather the will
To articulate her thoughts to waiting ears
As the sun leans over the clouds
Rays of light pass over her face
Shifting the complexion of her skin
And character of her eyes
Lips vibrate like growing gems
Ruby, translucent, geometrically perfect
And a sense of magnetic urgency
Flows from the contours of her body
The breath of heaven
Waits within the magic of her words
As she begins to unwind
And whisper “I need you”
you truly are a poet, this is another stunning piece of work, sensual, nature's light glowing and a story unfolds from the struggling through to those precious words whispered...
I must find a way to read more, somehow, has been so long so I am grateful to have found this, today, Thank You, Poet, indeed...
One can learn much from the deceptively simple, yet so full way you have with this artform...
Thank You,
m.
I do believe that these three words are the most difficult to utter, yes, even more so than "I am sorry." To admit that we need someone is to understand that we do not possess all that we must have to survive and with that knowledge comes a certain sense of weakness and/or vulnerability. The truth is that there is strength in numbers and we do draw our strength from those who surround us as well as from within ourselves and with the release of control we find a certain peace. Beautiful, rich images paint your verse, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
So much heat generated here through your words, Jude, which is picked up on and radiated amply by the astute comments in response and observation below. Much intensity which, as Eileen rightly says, would be "wondrous or woeful" to the ears to which the emotion is addressed. A very poignant write which, although turning the written spotlight squarely on "her", reflects clear as a mirror-image on the passionate longing of the Voice which betrays the POV that, in fact, her expression of need is as "The breath of heaven" to those "waiting ears", rather than a bind. Wonderful sensitivity in your couplets, expressing thirst, struggle and skin-shedding. New birth in the souls of both parties would surely come with this blessed release. Soulful and epic, this first opening of love's floodgates is ALWAYS dramatic and forceful, no matter how quietly and gently stated. Most tenderly and delicately observed, like a sigh of relief. Totally melting and gorgeous. I especially like that you have, as it were, caused all of nature to shake, quake and tremble as it pauses to "peek in" on this intimate moment... the sun leaning over clouds is a beautiful concept. Need can supercede love in its intensity. There is the need of someone you love passionately and that need is love personified.
Oh, this one bathes in passive languor, timeless and absolute emotion...reinforcement and genuine beauty in those three words, "I need you" which takes a great length of time to muster a burst of courage to speak these powerful words without a speech impediment caused from the fear of intimacy. When there is no fear and "I need you" is audible finally, the heart can direct Words of Necessity to one great purpose, herein lies the gentleness of the power of love bringing it to fruition...
