~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the rain was pouring down
in torrents of transparent shapes
the wind blowing madly
pushed me closer to your wet, vivacious face
we both glanced from the deck of the gazebo
into the storm passing from the east
as quick as it arrived it had vanished
offering the moon to illuminate our feast
we walked down the ivory stairs
onto the sandy shore of time
watching the tide advance in proximity
as our bodies embraced in rhyme
the clouds soon covered the moon
a breeze came in from the west
i still hear your voice singing to heaven
that's what I recall the best
A memory like this is burned into the back of the mind until it bursts forth in poetic expression. A diversion from your usual style, but a good one.
Well, this one ascends that firey staircase, Jude, and no mistake: like the virtuosic cadenza you speak of. Couplets that take us higher with each specific note on the scale, this conjures that same ambience and wonder that a superb solo aria does, raising the temperature as it climbs upwards. And just love the crescendo! :)) Adorable mixture of specificity and magic realism, this has Fellini written all over it! The detail of the Mariner and the surrealness of the Submariner. The rhythm and rhyme of love, words that transcend time. Wet, Wet, Wet... I feel it in my fingers... probably too English for you to understand... or, at least, too Hugh Grant... But you probably get my drift! Allegro non troppo. TY K xx
Ah yes, Jude... thank goodness we remember the joys - a voice which means the world to us in a cacophony of rain and wind. We know how to pick and choose, don't we!? Beautiful verse!
Peace. Joyce
A fine atmospheric piece Robert. I could smell the sweetness in the air from the abundance of negative ions the rain brought.
With time, the rain, rhyme and mystery of moonlight meld together and we are left with the vision of the dream that had created the moment. Beautifully poetic and romantic, Jude, tinted with a longing for a time passed and possibilities lost.
Take care,
Sherry
When we hear this voice, we hear the trumpet in the orchestra of evolution. This has such crossover wildness incarnate, a likeness to a pair of whooping cranes warming each other against the gusty winds of a fast-moving cold front, an aura of ancient flyways which unite regions and ignore borders, a migratory route to the heavens...yes, these are thoughts of the cranes as well...poetry of the natural world, Jude...
these pristine lines below, like the snow wreaths, (cranes)
"watching the tide advance in proximity
as our bodies embraced in rhyme"
It sounds like a sweet recollection, mixed with the pain of longing. Very nice.
