I do hate a critic... Great write! Has a lot of layers and possible meanings.

Such a struggle here, like the letter that reads if you would only...to be true to self and your art should be the only consideration, but to be original is to wear the barbs thereof.

I like the tension you create and juxtaposition of opposites you accomplish so effectively here.
"Exposed to earth and sky
Blessed and betrayed by the clarity of existence
Ridiculed and uplifted
By the presence of onlookers
Bleed dry by the will of indifference
Resurrected by the connection of mysterious musings
Handed over, betrayed, left to the vultures
Forgiven, absolved, fondled by angels
Tortured by the ways of a planet
Healed by the harmony of the spheres"
having clarity of existence is a tough row to hoe. it appears that the battle for originality is evermore... "harmony of the the spheres" being creation's best weapon.
you are an unquestioned master of your craft, jude; creative crucifixion being most definately not in your cards!
A different way to see things, Jude...Your creativity, your originality, the sacrifices made to be...
and then my favorite of all, "...to preview the dreamer's flesh"
Outstanding!

A very thought provoking
An excellent message within this poem!!
I truly enjoyed the write
Beautiful piece of Art!!
Love and peace To you..Morning Star
... If you were an artist and not a musician (!!) you would have painted this Dali. Dali would have written Ian Wilson music to illustrate and Ian would have written your words to put this concept across... or perhaps I would!?? :)) This is pure Art-speak, Jude... of whatever discipline. And anyone who lives life led by a Muse will comprendre. The Designer's Blueprint speaks loud and clear here. In the words of the Maker, "No eye has seen, no ear has heard nor mind conceived" what plans there are yet in store for those who look to the source: Creator, not dead on a tree but very much alive in its roots. Original "sanctity" ALWAYS brings life as opposed to death... Keep growing! :)) K xx
I agree Robert. Too many artists and writers have bought into the fast food mentality. Quick and painless while consuming, and please don't use any concepts or words that confuse me. Shit man, I don't want to think or grow, I just want to be entertained!!
I can imagine all the world's greatest artists and writers sitting around a table critiquing one another because they didn't understand the reason why their compeers and contemporaries did what they did.
It would be truly sad, especially in an art form that is fast becoming anathema to the general public, and an art form that, for the most part, generates no financial rewards, that the ones called to expand the boundaries and press into new territories, would be maligned by their fellow poets and writers because they are different.
I thoroughly enjoyed this write, Jude. I saw what I thought was a paradign here, and of course a paradox, and a parable. A write to make one think deeply; but as always, a write that brings to each reader many things. Well done.
you seem to have been resurrecting creativity and maintaing originality of late. this, too, presents the unexpected from you, speaking of the truths of art and life and spirit. Dawn
This write is akin to a geological column, not layered by rock strata, but the deeply etched strata of perceptive thinking. Each verse is meat for chewing.
Society at best views original thinkers as eccentric, at worst a threat to established protocol (Oscar Wilde was prime example of the latter when he dared to challenge Victorian sensitivities). John Lennon - who sang the sentiments of this write in his Ballad of John and Yoko -'The way things are going, they're gonna crucify me.'- was dismissed as a crank, but after he was brutally murdered (crucified by originality!)he was suddenly elavated to the rank of sanctified icon. How fickle our wont for homage can be.
I like the way you rise above banality to maintain originality. Too many pander to the flesh...The majority of society have little respect for poetry, because they don't understand it. Superb work Jude...
Wow what a write! Enjoyed this one much, a bit different than many that I have read. Poetry reflects upon many things in life, life itself, love, death, happiness, heartache, and so much more...but the important thing is that it is written from the depths of the heart and soul fot the poet...as you always do my friend. Enjoyed!
Blessings,

Excellent as usual. Poetry is a reflection of the life and observations of the poet. How a person percieves someone who, in most cases, they have never even met . . . well- I guess the burden lies on the poet. But, shouldn't we be enjoying the expression instead of attempting to judge the writer?

The Resurrection of originality.
We have to trust our own creations, not be concerned by anothers whim.
Soldier on in the knowledge of self security..
Impressive lines as you dwelve into the reaches of the mind and soul to reflect on the paths artists and writers and thinkers of our times must stroll to come forward as the medium of their choice calls for their offeerings.
The maddening world of words when a poet becomes crusified by his own demons. This reminds me of Poe and with that comment the next word is Masterful, Robert.

Susan
It is often the case that the artist must fit into the box that the judges have constructed if the/she wishes to gain notoriety for their craft. It has everything to do with marketability and very little to nothing to do with talent. Great job on this one!
Take care,
Sherry
as we grow.....hopefully
everything you do is art!
