Again, perhaps conversely, I am struck by the warmth of the imagery here - probably the mood set by your opening couplet which is fear-allaying and positively reassuring. On this understanding, learning to recognise the shadows in the darkness; to appreciate its differing depths, nouances, shades and meanings is but like orienteering a strange and unfamiliar landscape. All it takes is the one vital spark as the compass by which to navigate all the rest. Investigation and exploration are always a joyful experience if there is no fear attached. This one sharpens the senses, Jude. And a nice contrast of physical and intuitive probing. Like the mood of expectation you conjure, too. TY K xx
This is an incredible piece of writing. A shadow longing to come to life but light can only make a shadow disappear. This is a psychological twister. :-)

"It appears that the wolf and the raven have reached an adjustment in their relations such that each creature is rewarded in some way by the presence of the other and that each is fully aware of the other's capabilities. Both species are extremely social, so they must possess the psychological mechanism for forming social attachments."(page 288)...
As I read this, I pictured a dreamcatcher, cathing all those dark mysterious shadows that haunt uf during the night. This piece you penned is filled with imagery. Excellent write.
A master's touch describing the sights of the illusionary world. And, a mind boggle of imagined shapes and stealth. A satisfying and memorable piece for us! Thanks much. - Bill
Have you ever been in a room brightly lit and then turn off the light and just wait in the dark? It is amazing the shapes and "things" you think you see until your vision adjusts again. This is wat this poem reminded me of. The quite yet busy ways of the night.Great piece Jude!

If we never passed through the shadows, we'd never appreciate the light. Love the imaginary in this. Well done.
A wonderful write you take the reader on a magnificant journey through a darkness where a shadow doubt and fear lingers because of the unknown, or what we perceive to be one thing, may actually be another....outstanding imagery and excellent offering!

You never "Display the rattle of lightless vision" in any of your writes. Just another perfectly executed, highly visual write that stimulates the thoughts and emotions of the reader. Don't you ever hit null?...just suck?...run dry?...break the E string on your Gibson?...;) Awesome write Jude!!
Jude, you've captured a picture here that many of us can relate to...struggling in the darkness can bring many shadows to distort our perspectives and cause a mystery with a pinch of fear to enter our minds. Excellent writing Jude.
Wow Jude this write is full of beautiful imagery
Your words captured a deep mysterious darkness!
Reminded me of my neighborhood I hate how dark and scary
Is at night no one turns their porch light
Only mine is on!
Excellent as always your poetic thoughts are outstanding!!
Love And Peace to you always...Morning Star
How well you define the dark in all of its mysterious aspects. We can ascribe many incidents, one that comes to mind was just last night I had shut off all the lights making my way to the bedroom and could not believe how I lost my sense of direction and imagined all kinds of shapes surrounding me.It was eerie and resulted in a few bumps before I got my night eyes;-) I love your descriptions Jude, they are perfect.Superb poem!

I enjoyed the dark picture you painted, very muted and mysterious.
No one could describe this common occurance better than you. Last night, I wish I could have been poetic about the things I saw in the dark. This is strong and mysterious. I enjoyed it, Jude.
The storm plays always a king of chinese shadows teater by illuminating the backroom skies with lightning and we can see on a wide screen a kind of angry narrative.

Jude, I wish I could decipher what you were feeling as you wrote this poem. It certainly is well done with strong images, but truly, it gave me goose bumps--made me think of nightime as a scary place to be.
Now this really stimulates the mind.
I think of those still nights, where no moon shone, and to see in the dark, one would have to really rely on all senses. Fortunately for me I have eyes like a cat in the dark.....LOL
But any ray of light in these times, is better than pitch.

Excellent write with imagery galore! I felt I was there in the absence of light, feeling my way around.
