O’ how I wish I could find the will
To write of beauty, hope and heaven’s carapace

To look into the eyes of every poet, savior, and inspired beast
To say the least, I would have an incredible advantage

Over the misgivings and misfortunes
That slithers and soars into the incredible likeness of being

But I am just another vagabond
Passing through the great divide of conceptual existence

A band of life adhering to its own presence
Separating from the emotion of beginning

A cycle of motion that began as a particle of dust
In the eyes of the great imagination

And has taken a quantum leap into its own conclusion
By beginning to look for purpose and reason

Not to say truth ever existed
Or subsisted as a special offering or appeal

But it is time
To migrate from division

Dividing the circumference
Reinventing the next plateau

An insightful peek into the creative well in a sense.

Yes, "it is time to migrate" and find that "next plateau." "Into the great wide open." That "particle of dust" floats within "the sun's grain's eye" and carries within it the potential of new creation. -another fine piece of thought provoking poetry.

The Great Mathematician and Logician at work! Evolving from A to B or going round in circles of "reinvention"? I'm glad you're busy beavering, Jude... finding a way out of this Wilderness that we've been wandering about in for oooooo... about 40 years or so... We seem to have lost it since We Are Stardust, We Are Golden and We've Got To Get Ourselves Back To The Garden...

I really rather think that, if there really IS no core Truth that stands apart from all else, whether we can fathom it or not, then the hopes of finding it within ourselves to evolve sufficiently to gain the giddy heights of the Next Plateau are momentarily looking a little peaky. If there is no objective Truth, then perhaps the spokes will all depart FROM a central core of individual being, rather than to work TOWARDS it. Blah, blah.. could spend at LEAST a week debating all this but... To conclude, this is a wonderful Pslamist's write and it is interesting that we tend to find the Biblical Psalms of such comfort when actually they express a load of all the pitfalls in life that could otherwise crush us. Just goes to show that Words in seaon are ALWAYS effective, whether to teach, exhort or bring relief. And there were none more vagabond-like than the writers of scripture... Well, except Solomon who seemed to have a pretty cushy number...

Just a few dusty thoughts, for what they're worth, from a tired old nag... :)) K xx

My dear Jude~
The depositional angels of intriguing sediments here, raises you on the highest tableland among such vagabond ruralism, leaving me no choice but to climb the slopes of those buried licks of literature, poetry and prose...to this “ Next Plateau”
Amazing concept!
I’m on!

Jude, as we learn to climb...we also learn to know our limitations and usually come away from a hard climb with a learning experience. I, myself, believe we grow as humans through each experience we struggle through in our lives. This is a way for us to be able to accept circumstances that comes against us to bring us to the place where we can accept the heartaches & trials we suffer on this earth. I'm waiting for that next plateau, knowing it will be a magnificent place to live an eternal life. I enjoyed this!

Powerfully profound though a bit on the pesimistic side, it is difficult to argue with your point of view, Jude, though I will. LOL! Though we live this lifetime struggling in most every way, I will say that there is little to be learned through the easy things in life and much to be learned through difficult ones. It is those times when I accomplish something that was not sure I could, or when I learn to love someone who is unlovable, that I look in the mirror in amaze and with great pride for I know that I have grown spiritually. Living in difficult times is what separates the doers from the talkers, the strong from the weak and the youthful souls from the Sages. This is far too philosophical for 5:20 a.m. I suppose, but I think that pressing forward through this space will automatically recreate and deliever us to the next plateau. Very well written, Jude...see ya on the mesa, amigo!
Take care,
Sherry

I have read this poem words coming at me like an stampede of thoughts trampling on hope, vagabonds and non existent truths.
Last, but not the least, the stampede went out to the abyss pushed from behind by desillusion.
A sad and somber one, but good.

The Next Plateau awaits us from under the Cinzano umbrella, a cold, frosty Corona, and an organ grinder, the hurdy-gurdy man, and a gypsy fortune teller with cleavage from which we pull the lime/lemon wedges...she is saying something about poetry leeches who hang on and on...attaching themselves, in torn shoes that would be better off with begonia's planted in the gardner's shoe, sucking the life blood out of the stone without a grateful smile...we just need a cool breath on the back of our necks and a cold long-neck...Cheers!
