~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk these worn-out streets
Looking for an unchained hand
One that holds a jewel
Celebrating the spirit of man
I see a glowing gem above my head
Lighting up all the sky
Lifts me from these concrete dreams
And captures the wonder within your eyes
I know there’s a vision
Where beauty reins for all to see
And lifts our hearts and minds
To embrace life’s mystery
Within this life
We watch distant stars
Where positivity
Erases all our scars
I walk through these unlit streets
To expand my range and scope
Knowing the time will come
When the soul of man will finally cope
I like the message of hope you convey in this lovely piece. I think you are right: "...the time will come
Great message. Once gave a talk on coping at a "Coping with the Future" conference in Birmingham as bad behavior. I'd take a coping saw and cut it out. ;-)
...and that's why we have necks... in order to be able to look up and gain our proper perspectives! And walking blind sharpens our night vision, and then the stars REALLY come alive and oh, so close. You can hear them whispering.... This has all the wonder and anticipation of the New Heaven and The New Earth as we realise that we are part of the Growing Gem which is quietly preparing itself in the darkness, as we wade through our urban stratums of mud and grace. Having our sights on what's above and not below certainly gives our soul the scope to cope... And my favourite line of poetry of all time (so far!) "Ah, but a man's reach exceed his grasp or what's a heaven for"... Nice through-the-keyhole couplets, Jude. The view into the garden beyond speaks of Wonderland. LOL Great periscope / telescope write. TY Kate xx
You write reminds me of the time when all the searching for answers and bits of knowledge learned it all seemed as if it was just something to do while I was waiting for life to catch up with me. Lady J
Good poetry. An easy ride into the hope of a future.
As Dorothy might have said to the Wizard:
"I surely hope that you're right!" Appreciative - Bill
Coping with the "search for an unchained hand".
I needed to read the first two lines several times until they took me to the answer: "the time will come".
The author isn't talking about what happened in life but also about the hope of what could be enfolding in the future.
Deep and masterly.
