~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just couldn’t sleep
My dreams decline to signal ahead
Their portal remained impervious
To the puffy contours of my bloodshot eyes
Peering into a tunnel of worn-out anticipation
Instead, they hide under rocks in synaptic forests
Growing molecule expanding itineraries
Conjuring up the primitive apparatus
Of psychic machinery in the stars above
Evaluating daily dialogs:
Script the scenery of emotional consequence
Sleepless, I began to compose a screenplay
Of waking dreamplay
Projecting spells and yawns
Upon my persistent vision
Refusing sleep
Yet revitalized by lack of slumber
note: on vacation ... touring forests and seashores ... will return in the near future ... miss reading and commenting ... i'll be back ;)
Oh the wonders of nature, they always refresh the mind, heighten the senses, and give new lease to worn out quills, think I may need a Sabbatical too...
Missed your poetic offerings
... can see it all... the arcing limbs of knotted trees... the night suddenly punctuated by the appearance of a full moon it's face only slightly obscured through a lamb's-tail whisp of cloud that fleets across it... the howl of a lone wolf on the hilltop, calling to its pack... Great Judean use of imagery and syntax... And, is it me or are the tenses slipping in and out - perhaps like that waking-dream state of past and present, adding to the surreality. Your smooth choice of descriptions conjures well that "clumsiness and clunkiness" that accompanies sleep deprivation - especially love:
Conjuring up the primitive apparatus
Of psychic machinery in the stars above
... And gotta luv those molecule-expanding itineraries; I've a few of those scheduled myself, so perhaps our paths will cross! :))
Yes indeedy... I like that you seem to view sleep not as a source of refreshment in itself, but as an energy-field to progress your life through dream planning and programming. In which case, either waking or asleep, their Wide Screen appearance is invigorating.
Perhaps this is how Jerry Bruckheimer started out! LOL Kiera Kate xx
PS... Think it would be a GREAT one to recite... along with Expectation, which seems to me a sister write.
Hi Gypsy Jude. I hope you're having a jubilee of artful days and nights full as moons and pregnant banquets. This is the theme for the past few days...sleep and dreaming... for some here at the den. For me, lately dreams are jumbled but I continued to travel to exotic foreign shores. I wish I could speak the language.
Have fun and come back ready to sprout the album of glorious plays you encountered.
Love,
Susan
The dreamscapes that often occur in the bright of day when we allow our creative and imaginative minds relax and open to the possibilities are often either exhilarating or frightening but all the same I think they need to be listened to. This is an intense write and one to be read and reread as to ponder your ideas. Glad to see you back Jude.
