~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pulling us in, alluring us here
Attached to a special substance
Between the growing framework of tempestuous horizons
And the dreams of onward voyagers
Adhering us to skeletal webs of psychic driftwood
Sculptured by windward memories
Suspended within the darkness of passing souls
The emotional debris of anticipation pulls us onward
Wedged amid frozen layers of life’s growing fire
Thawing us out on a vessel held out before
A tarn of zigzag designs
While finding the time
To throw out a line or two
Balancing upon the preternatural presence
Placed in upward motion
Set into movement
By the panorama of universal idea
Pulling us closer, closer
Tugging us closer to the continuum of light
This is a unique description of the tugging we "onward voyagers" experience as we anticipate the future and walk towards "the continuum of light." There is always something special to be found in your poetry, Jude. This one is particularly moving and reveals a part of what is within each of us. Your perspective on humanity and the forces that move us is refreshing and enlightening. Welcome back!
Have to agree with Kate about the tugging sensation... first off, I could audibly hear the ratcheting of a fishing reel as it was being wound in. Makes me think of how it is we are all lured to leave our fingerprints here at AuthorsDen... and of the touches we receive from others here as we pass through... Second and subsequent readings the whole was pastiched for me as various bittersweet impressions from the film Titanic, somehow all encapsulated within the spirit of Rose, whose heart "went on" as from the deathly darkness of losing Jack amid wreckage to refinding him in the brightly lit resurrected Ballroom at the end. This poem has this quality about it, that spirit of eternal hope and endurance. Quintessentially symbolised, perhaps, by The Heart Of The Ocean diamond necklace that Rose dropped into the water over the spot where Titanic sank, just before she died. Fascinated by this thought for some reason, I have just Googled it and also found that "one of the treasures known to be onboard the maiden voyage of the White Star Line Titanic was a priceless copy of the Rubyiat of Omar Khayiam. This book of poetry was encrusted with 1,500 precious stones set in gold"... what a weird coincidence. Ach well, this has been an inspiring read and research, to say the least. Keep on with the exploration of poetic engineering, Kartero... You sure do seem to be pulling us all somewhere! Love, Winslet Kate xx
A reader can feel the tugging process as they read. Life is so exciting and complex and yet in the long run extremely simple in its meaning.
Jude,
An ethereal feel to this one, reminded me of the Northern Lights with a spiritual lesson contained in their display. Well done, exquisite poetry.
Empowering message through poetry. Humanity is due for an evolutionary leap in these troubled times of political design, military aggression and diminishing civil liberties, especially the freedom of speech, such as we have witnessed. Light Tugs illuminates the divine that is within us and brings like-minded souls together for a reunion of a power structure. This ForÉse den is the chosen birthplace of poets where your messages empower and stimulate our minds. It is here in this den that we gather to exchange ideas and rally against evil forces which are destroying Gaia, which in darkness, destroys the poet...welcome home, Jude...thanks for "finding the time to throw out a line or two"...
Love Always,
Sage
