~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I never denied
The polarity of color and form
Stretching across deep hillsides
Or touching the fibers of my thoughts
Being in two places at once
Brings out the best in motion
Looking to the sky
Through branches and leaves
Observing strange hues of pomegranate
Or perhaps vermilion
In the cool teal of dusk
My soul lifts up and drifts to a distant shore
Strolling across sandy, sacred moments
Fated to reside in
The vaporous space of earth’s embrace
Here, beauty resembles towering trees
Swaying under clouds in special breezes
And around the ravine into the next valley
The magic of flowers grow without one single raindrop
Shedding leafy clothing for stellar garments
The variable of color permeates the landscape
And the collective chatter of consciousness
Is emboldened to listen to its momentum
I never felt I was any different
Yet I sensed I wasn’t the same
Surrounded by derision and dysphoria
The repercussions of my presence
Flows like lava across misty grass
Surrounding leaves I have grown to know
And the electric of concrete and decorated flesh
I developed in the orderly manner
Of a turbulent existence
Where everything seemed lucid and calm
And autumn is a phase of direction
And a prelude to the shade of dreams
Jude, I had to add this one to my library. Can't believe I almost missed it. The content on this poem was brilliant. I could feel the soul being touched in your words written.
This is a gorgeous "Prelude to Autumn's Dreams." The juxtaposition between human existence and the beautiful phases we see in nature create a poetic and literary tension that is unique and moving. You have once again, through well crafted words and images, captured something special here. Well done!
"Being in two places at once
Brings out the best in motion"
And clearly creates a state of insightfulness that inspires some of the best from your pen. Superb poetry.
For me the autumn is like a prelude to time travel, where winter comes and freezes our existance into a holiday wonderland. Enjoyed this
Very Blake-sian eternity-in-an-hour and whole-world-in-a-grain-of-sand -thing. I like the subtle shifting of the seasonal colours and forms, the transmutations and the ability, by being somewhat omnipresent, or at least in two places, to be able to travel the colour wheel with them, listening to their shifts of mood and textural meaning. I like the time-flow, too, like a pendulum swinging between its given points of chronos and place. The personal profile of the Voice moves along its own programme of metamorphosis with it. Very controlled, very precise - like the lucidity and calm you speak of in the penultimate stanza. Your last couplet is my favourite, intimating a duallism, that as the trees denude themselves, dreams will be revealed and gather flesh to their bones, providing sanctuary and ongoing refuge within the tensions of polarity of foliage and form. A most tranquil and meditative mood conjured here, allowing us to experience the rich density of the vibrancy of texture and palette. Yum! :)) landsKape Kate xx
Keen perception strong enough to hold ForÉse ground and lift up - Prelude to Autumn's Dreams - nude - "And autumn is a phase of direction And a prelude to the shade of dreams" - Man Dreamer covered by thick blankets of seaweed - trees stripped of leaves and bark, like you, Jude - enduring in the blueprint of skeletal design in ghost forests - Detritus - behind the battered beach...this poem makes no attempt to hasten the process by man-made means - it works out its own tempestuous evolution "out there"...shower of meteorites and indigo water, lose the blanket of seaweed...driftwood fantasies...
Jude, any painter who reads this would be foolish not to capture the beauty portrayed in this writing. The metaphors and similies are magnificent. This write reminds me of the many times I've sat among the beauty of mountains or a beautiful setting, and felt like I was two places at a time. Jude, this is a true winner.
So descriptive of the blissfulness of nature and the peace it can inspire. The line, "Here, beauty resembles towering trees" creates an image of a beautiful forest with the singsong whisper of wind in the trees.
