~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes the best avenue to flee
Is to take the road
Where you stand your own ground
Where impulses of cessation
Were launched long before blood
Oozed through fossils of emotion
And thoughts of grandeur roamed prehistoric tar pits
Sometimes appearance
With its heroic maladies of perfection
And healing voices of sin
Form the alpha and omega to the rich and famous
Idolize the average guy masturbating into the wind
Genuflect to a deity dressed in drag
Look for authority in a uniform of political whims
Here misguided children
Wander through calculative cities
To reach fickle farmhouses
In search of the Holy Grail
Seeking companionship
About the vacuity of plastic trees
And starless planetariums
Looking to the sky
To see an image of themselves
Hanging in the barbwire of oblivion
Trying to swim backwards
In a pool of dulled razor blades
Saying to themselves
“What the f*** is going on with my life?
I'm bleeding brain bullets
Shot from a fool’s revolver
Outside the corral of the Golden Dawn”
The imagery is awesome here. There's plenty there I don't understand--but I doesn't prevent me from enjoying the show! Like the first time I read Neuromancer. I kept saying, what the hell does all this mean? The same for some of Larry Niven's books (Ringworld made my head ache the first time I tried it), and, well, many others. But they all rock, like your poetry.
I find this compelling...because I am not sure just what the point is , either...but then who does? Expressed this very well, and with much impact.
Find peace and comfort in just being,
I think your last line pretty much sums it up. Golden Dawn, Liber Al, OTO and all that jazz...stay away from that crowd, Jude. They are nothing more than a bunch of narcisstic manic-depressives crying about how unappreciated they are because Crowley had the audacity to DIE!
You know where the truth lies. Just follow your heart, leave the rest to trail behind.
Best,
~ Sara
You are all over the place with this one Jude, yet there is a concise core that pulls it all together. We live in interesting times to say the very least, and the lack of terra firma in our lives can lead to bewilderment where things had once seemed so simple. Dreams fade too quickly to gray and apathy slips firmly into fear. Excellent writing!!
Take care,
Sherry
The Cosmic Sheriff who wears a five-star tin badge flecked off from the aging centerpiece of a quasar, asks in cosmic drawl with Eric Clapton singing amongst the stars, I Shot the Sheriff - "Why have the inferior earthlings invented such a monstrosity of headgear they call the 10-gallon hat when humans haven't the size of the brain to fill it out?" Queen answers with Another One Bites the Dust. Artistic ricochet bounces one off in this Space Cowboy poem. See you at the Golden Dawn corral where we'll watch the Phoenix rise and smell the sauted, cauterized flesh speared on the barbs...the velocity of Bleeding Brain Bullets travels far and wide, Jude...it's all about the collection of stars and dust bound together by gravity and intelligence...poetry is generated by turbulence...six paces and draw the cosmic tarot and tip your Stetson to Madam Blavatsky!
Sage
Being stalwart and undiscouraged in our callings is tantamount to credibility as an artist and also to the relevance that we personally place on what we do and how we are percieved. Your poetic insights, Jude, always nourish the mind and encourage growth to the reader. In this poem you show a part of yourself that is rarely exposed - not just frustration, but vulnerability!
I salute some of your imagery friend ... ie: "barbwire of oblivion" "Trying to swim backwards In a pool of dulled razor blades"
Stand strong!
Richard
