Reflecting on Other's Eyes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think I may be becoming invisible, only to myself
I given up staring at my reflection
Unless I have to shave
At least for the moment
Soon after purchasing an electric razor
My reflection's extraneous contours
Became responsive only to the hum of roving heads
So I ceased watching myself,
Yeah sure
Today, I believe my face is as smooth as a baby's ass
But of course, thats totally debatable:
Maybe to the butt of my mirror image
But not so to softened cheeks
Sometimes, after shaving
I can hear an orchestra
Playing violins around my head
Don't ask me why
I know I must be crazy
And as I lounge in the master bedroom
Of my most voluptuous dreams
I disappear; well, it appears so
And from behind ruby red curtains
In the deepest thoughts of my salacious synapses,
I hear the pounding of tympani drums
Blending into the syncopation of an animated chorus
And I know I'm totally awake but still not visible:
Yet in the reflection on the mirror above
I'm still in motion through other's eyes
Jude
Glad I caught this one. Great poem.
The best times are those when I am invisible to my self. I remember covering my face with my brother's cream when I was a kid. I like not seeing myself. My mother was worried I might mar my skin. Go figure.
love,
Kathy
trippy...invisibility is a condition of higher consciousness...those that don't pulse to the beat can't be in sync vibrationally...which is a necessary filter to personal enlightment
The mirror of the mind can find us seeing past the simpleness of shaved skin and dreams across the covers as we lay and ponder...your music orchestrates to us the ability to grasp more than thoughts...
nice work, Jude...
You know, I can relate to this, dear Jude - "suffering" from this kind of "dissociation" myself, (minus the shaving, LOL!) from time to time. When that happens, I may wonder who that person in the mirror is, or I may not even see her until she startles the heck out of me by sticking a toothbrush in my eye... or, oh moments of rare sense of identification, I may actually feel an intimate, undescribable connection... when, from the mirror... a disgruntled bassethound stares back at me! LOL! Seriously... this is an amazing piece of "poetic engineering", like Butch says. Enjoyed it tremendously!
Uh, have you considered giving up shaving? Kidding, hope you know.
You're a gas, man! Are so imaginative and playful!! Always give us food for thought, always serve it with the perfect garnish. On a unique and unforgettable plate! Thank you for another delightful
I remember once.. looking into a mirror and asking who are you...the image left and I finally found my reflection. (reverse of what you wrote.) lol
This is "poetic engineering" at it's best! To read this aloud and feel the vibrations and the syncopation of the rythm you create here brings delight to the reader. Keep that mirror handy. It is revealing something rare and special to us all.
The self as seen through other's eyes. Actually, I have been doing that a lot myself lately ( - but not the shaving-bit!), and, have to say, what I'm starting to see that way is a whole lot brighter and more sparkly than how I'd previously ever seen myself. No wonder an orchestra adds a fitting crescendo instrumental. And, indeed it seems you are constantly in motion: a wave cresting the restless seas. And definitely NOT crazy: all this makes perfect sense to me. Except, perhaps, the electric razor, that is! Somehow don't see you as anything 'cept a wet-shave man, myself: steely concentration on bristle and blade, lavish with lather and oodles of hot, sloshing water! Those buzzy little electric things seem to me to be for eunuchs and time-harried, manicured executives. And what woman wants her man's face to resemble in any way a baby's BTM?! Personally, I'm a five o'clock shadow girl... The six o'clock unmasking is just such fun! :)) A very clever and intricate blending of concept and idea. And the eau de cologne is intoxicating! Time for someone to go freshen up... cheeKy Kate xx
I cannot imagine how this feels. I know I am alive, I live my truth, and I strive to be the best at what I decide to do. Somehow you need a spark to ignite the passion that I see in your face when I look at your profile. Find that spark, search for it, it will change your life.
A very, very, intense poem with much imagery..
Peace, love, and light,
We oft times feel the weight of invisibility as a self imposed exile. At least that is how I often feel, I will go through the motions of day to day living but in my mind I am shut down with my own secret thoughts and ideas...great write Jude.
Jude,
It is always hard seeing what is real or unreal while hiding behind drawn curtains. Being smooth and clean shaven is a step in the right direction but casting a little light upon the reflection is a must. Blessings Always, Paul.
Interesting, very interesting. You speak to my heart. I'm invisible to myself, and it's only through my poetry that other's see me. All I get is my relfection.
God bless you. Kathy
