~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
my poetry is intoxicated-
even the bartender has cut me off
demanding the keys to my motif
before I have a chance to drive it away
*
my mind is a palette of poetic tones
launched onto the canvas of my soul:
its vibrant colors
conspire to paint the pretense of the unknown
*
the dark, mysterious landscape of muse
becomes visible
when lightning penetrates
the thunder of my words
arriving before the storm
*
breaking through the fabric of an artistic wall
is the value of my ideas
depending solely
on inspired fragments
oozing through the integrity of my passion
Of the various poems I have read by you lately, this one tends to repeatedly absorb me, somewhat like a gentle tornado that draws me inside its vibrations and astonishes with a roar of beauty where I had perhaps expected screams of a different order. The motion becomes a spiral through an empowered creative sensibility, to inspired impulse, execution, reflection, and finally wonder and awed appreciation.
A pleasure to see a poet dance with his words and meanings with such self-defined style and elegance.
First let me make a thing clear: trilogy plus one is five, isn't?
Sometimes your hand writes not what your muses dictate but what that other one over the opposite shoulder whisper in your ear just to make trouble.
Nice poetry, but brother Jersey Ed will get confused.(He always is)
Beautiful words of a brilliant poet
This is my favor
the dark, mysterious landscape of muse
when lightning penetrates
the thunder of my words
arriving before the storm
Your words captured your spirit as a poet!
I like the uniqueness of your metaphors in the first two verses. I also like how the third and fourth verses flow differently than the first two; there's a change in feel. Very creative!
So... not a Quartet?! :)) No, I guess not as the fourth strophe is perhaps a kind of summation, a commentary on how the others come to be: integrity is the root, passion the fruit feeding the seeds of inspiration to window-dress these esteemed ideas. And there is probably little value in any idea that is not birthed through the fire of passion. The first three cameos presented in the light of this premise serve to highlight this nicely. "Pretense of the unknown" particularly make me stop to think: our pretense at KNOWING the unknown or the unknown's pretense at being unknowable? And, in the "landscape" stanza, you capture well how the poetic "quiver in the liver" is almost that which is unsought and unknown until it finds expression in the release of the pen... a kind of "cart before the horse" situation! Your "intoxication" makes me smile: so glad you have survived another birthday binge, Dylan, a long way from the Valleys! WTG, Kartero. Kate xx
You have done an excellent job of explaining the "machine" that drives the poetic spirit, Jude. I often find that emotions and innermost thoughts are the most difficult to put into words, but you have done so with clarity and a keen sense of purpose. Wonderful, wonderful.
Take care,
