~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know dreams are the creative energy of personal experience
filtered through the synaptic portals of collective vision,
merging and formatting with the membrane of shifting selves
I know the world is a universal bubble
designed to expand-
its potential to burst,
results from the chaotic pattern of heavy footprints
its inhabitants indiscriminately abandon
on the hardened surface of its delicate skin
I know the universe is an endless creative effort
spurred on by some greater imagination
observing itself
forming the very shapes it inhabits
on the body of its own ineffable soul
I know chaos, turmoil and mayhem
are the mirror siblings of law, beauty and order
joined at the hip at birth
I know nature is the nurturer
and slayer of its own remarkable being
and life and death are fluctuating stages
of presence and absence,
of motion and inertia
I know the mind is a miracle,
a gift of logic and emotion
that has just begun to learn how to imagine
how to write its own cookbook:
a series of recipes unbound
mmm... this one smells goooooooooood! Have to agree with Gina that it is of your top drawer and destined to tempt even the sickliest of inspirational/aspirational appetites. Reads like a Credo of faith, knowing something from the depths of the inner being rather than merely assenting to it cerebrally. Fabulous flow: very much like the progression from dreams - world - universe - chaos - nature, almost like a Big Bang Theory of the Mind, which has ultimate "control" over metaphysical thinking. The final stanza is most beautiful, capturing the divine, almost, with ideas of miracles and gifts bestowed. This is especially dear to my heart cos, the way I cook (never abiding by a recipe of any sort, but going purely with zest and intuition) it's an absolute transfiguration if anything ends up edible! :))
An very nice work of thought Jude...you express much more than just the ordinary display of the mind at work. It is poetry as yours that transcends us into the exploration of meanings, imagination, and dreams built upon thoughts...
Jude,
For me, this poem is remarkable. Your incredible insight lights this up from the inside-out. Your word choices are perfect. I love the use of the word "membrane." I like that you say "I know" and not "I think" or "believe." I connected with each line and felt the truth of what you wrote here deeply. This is my favorite of yours; I think it surpasses even my wildest expectations. I'd love to see you have this published.
A expanding world, like there is some divine yeast, like there is some private recipe that God keeps for Himself.
Jude, your writings are kind of challenging the readers to think, not just read and turn the page.
Good, my friend, very good.
Very intriguing, Jude, You compare life to an unbound recipe.. I like it, it leaves much for the reader to conjure up ideas and thoughts as to what your poem is trying to tell them. Very cleverly written.
Much peace, love, and light
I suspect the recipes have an ending, a title, a supreme idiom of solution, like truisms offered, Robert, knowing your work. At some point of thought, I guess action must come, me included. Let's cook a few books!
