thoughts and images pass through synaptic portals
formed in a  stream of experience
encouraged by emotion, attitude, character, and ability

pouring out thoughts, trying not to exaggerate
personal interests and desires: rather zen-propelled transformations
of existential concepts possessing lives of their own

only then, capturing a gush of muse
seizing the motivation to build a poem
from the debris of contemplative deliberation

i never seek to control poetry, rather liberate its boundaries
like a vehicle to be steered and accelerated
by fueling its direction toward unforeseen destinations, never braking

an avenue of poetic engineering
proposing a daring blueprint
designed by automatic endeavor preconceived in structure and content

surmounting its edifice, impromptu-growing and expanding,
looking glass scenery toward dreams of endeavor
always in progress and yes, evolving

This is like a manifesto of your poetry.
Great construction and rhythm to express
an open-ended creation.

... love the way this builds with an unstoppable energy gushing/gusting in the second half. An unpremeditated yet "predestined" poetic synopsis forever moving onwards in an upward-spiralling ellipsis, yes... Revolutionary evolution, you might say... No wonder we poets feel kinda liberated! :)) xx

Wish I were more like you, Jude. Unfortunately my poetry evolves through re-writes, braking by necessity. Not the first draft, though. I like "fueling it's direction toward unforeseen destinations"--it does seem to come from the ether. When I was active and writing a poem everyday it was more spontaneous. Great write...Lin

I think this is an excellent advice
A poem evolves on its own
You as the poet must steer its direction and development
Never controlling but guiding another words
A poet does not control rater set the poem free

Dear Jude,
It's the way you engineer words such as "capturing a gush of muse" that always puts me into deep contemplative thought whenever I read one of your poems. You inspire me to higher heights with my own writing and I thank you for that and for giving us so much of yourself with everything you write.
*hugs*

Jude, you have engineered a very fine example of a poem here -- certainly it is more than the "debris of contemplative deliberation" -- you have earned your diver's license with this one -- peace and love-- Jon Michael

"from the debris of contemplative deliberation"
well brother ... I can tell you that the pile that I've accumulated lately has overtaken the neighborhood.

These are intelligent and sensitive insights into the process Jude, and also the role of those chosen to keep alive an increasingly misunderstood art form.

The author seems here to be comfortable letting his literary body to be subject by Zen-transformations and never seeking to control poetry, as poetry control us, making us better, mellowing our human spirit and guiding the hand that gives us such delightful reading moments.

One of the things that I like about poetry is that it's free for the reader, in many cases, to interpret the lines read. This is excellent, and I especially like. "i never seek to control poetry, rather liberate its boundaries like a vehicle to be steered and accelerated

It is astonishing how many ways a poet can get their words out and be understood by so many different people in many different ways. As a poet we strive to tell our story in our own unique way, and Jude, you have definitely a very unique style. I admire your work, and rise to the challenge of really understanding and interpreting your meanings each time I read your poetry!

Much peace, love, and light,

Dear Jude, every one sees in the poem
different views and meanings.
But in the end it is the writer's duty,
to make it easy for the reader to understand.
Some will maybe say it's not a poem
If the reader understands it's just the same.
For me, what counts is the inner flame

Once we create our poetry, we must set it free to go on to live a life of its own. It must offer the flexibility to become whatever the reader perceives it to be. We release our words to, hopefully, strike a chord with someone and perhaps even be exactly what they needed to read at that particular moment. Yours is an excellent description of how/why we write. Wonderful offering, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
