so much lost, when not much given
so much detached, when so little forgiven

how you would gesture your hand
how you would refuse to understand

so many tears, so little faith
dreams in love, gone to the grave

Sad days, Jude. What's agonising perhaps about this acute little write is the possible suggestion of the relentlessness and ongoing, entrenched attitudes and negative expectations caused by two who are constantly misfiring off each other through temperamental miscommunication. Avenues of communication flow unstoppably and are full of a positive, nurturing creativity and growth when "nature" has its way. But sometimes our closest relatinships are with those with whom we are characteristically mismatched and then it all becomes like a constant grind, like a painful and agonising sandpapering of the soul. The most tragic thing, though, between those for whom goodwill and love is present, is that both parties are trying just so hard to make it work - yet from their own points of view of being in the "right". I think many of us can relate here. Your final couplet makes me think that love is often a necessary path of reality's endurance, whereas being "in love" carries with it a fair amount of romanticised faith. Be well, Kartero. xx

hmm...somber realism - i hope this isn't your experience

when one-half feels and the other-half is escapist using a lack of understanding to keep from forgiving or loving in truth it is a sad commentary

always enjoy your work - this is a little different from your "usual" form - i love change.

Sometimes we are confronted with all we gave and the very little we received, then again, how they can refuse to understand? by digging a grave? to bury love, tears and faith?
Few words a myriad of meaning.
Very well done!!!

You've captured a strong feeling in a few words. This poem gives the impression of a hungry emptiness inside that is surrounded by pain.

Such a lesson here Jude, death of love and unforgiveness is truly a shame. Forgiveness with love...never dies.

Amber said it all Jude, if a love is meant to be then it would never be lost. We just look in the wrong direction. Thank you for sharing.

Jude,
Love that is lost was never to be kept. If love is true then it should never die. No matter what. Someday all of us, who have such passionate hearts and poetic souls will find true love, I search for it every day, Wonderfully written poem filled with much passion as only one can write that has known a deep love. We will find it again, I am so sure of it.
Peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

Sometimes love is over before it ever starts; the heart locked, weary and cold. Very sad, Jude.
Take care,
