~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i’ve had it
with swapping spit with the enemy,
lips and tongues
intertwined in a far-reaching
battle of malicious intimacy
trust, a misnomer of cherished terms
strumming the heartstrings of disingenuous melody,
inundated with falsetto, crescendo
and unwritten symphonic blather
jamming my ears with spongy words
and emotional cords of unadjusted pitch -
i have fallen into a trench on variable terms
suggesting little but egocentric,
off beat concerns of embattled scorn
where spies lay in the mist
trying to chase away all allies
but i will not write off
the reinforcement of dreams
maneuvered by unseen angels
thrusting opened wings
into the core of my growing mêlée
Trenchant style and word choices. The entanglement is powerfully depicted and so is the the movement in the opposite direction.
"strumming the heartstrings of disingenuous melody": a great line.
Jude, there is determination, gusto and resolve in bounty here my friend. We shall not be subdued with mere slight of hand and politically correct mouths. I sense the honor and verve of noblesse oblige here. I'll hold the line and advance with you. Love and peace to you my dear friend. Jon Michael
I like the symphonic tone to this poetic rant that smacks of today.
Abounding in wisdom, your poem is, to me, about trying to find that sacred trail of stepping stones to long-standing peace and love.
Best Wishes,
Christine
We all go through life in a series of learning experiences that hopefully we learn from and take somethinng of value from. In this world there are people who strive on deceit and when we interact with them and finally see through them, we can only raise our middle finger and move on....great write Jude
...salvation in those splendidly redemptive last five lines, Jude.
"...swapping spit with the enemy," ...I hear you.
Webster says, a confused, tumultuous mingling....but sometimes, a clear state of knowing comes through it all...if we open up enough to allow it to happen. As always, I enjoy your thoughts and what pours through.
I have come to find the words LOVE and ESPIONAGE are directly inter-changeable. This poem has a nice, shiny serrated edge...perfect spy drama, or love story as it seems. Great, great, great..................
With each deceptive relationship we encounter, it becomes increasingly difficult to surrender to the next. If we cannot surrender we cannot love unconditionally because love only grows within complete and total trust. There are times in our lives when we must choose solitude in order to regroup, grow and evolve, that we can learn the lessons and move on with a positive attitude. I have been where of you write, more times than I want to admit but now, I know that I must be ready in all ways so that I will be the right partner when "my one" enters my world. Do not ever lose track of the fact that love is a gift that we give to our self. Well written and emotionally tugging offering, Jude. There is something here that I think each of us can identify with.
Take care,
Sherry
Melee - a confused struggle. Taken from the words that mean 'To mix' or
'To Meddle' Your just seeing the drawing of the line in the sand. You must choose which side you'll stand.
Melee is filled with ripe tumultuous connotations. This poem leaves me with a lack of confidence in those unseen angels not spreading their wings wide enough to save a soul from harms way.
I say drop, tuck, and roll out of harms way. Dream on, dreamer, you have so much more to look forward to. allow those allies to come to your aid, don't listen to negative thoughts or negative people.
Positivity is the only way to be happy and out of the melee, that seems to be surrounding you.
Your poetry has taken a new direction, more open and meaty. I love to try to figure out what you are really saying, that is when I do have the time to really dig into your poetry..You are one deep writer, always challenging your reader's mind and soul.
put on your protective armor and keep on fighting back until you can just walk away and be out of chaotic melee'.
Peace, light,love,
Amber
Hahaha!! Join the lengthening crowd, Jude, in the war of the sexes and the absolute viciousness of the clench and ear nibbling. Once you find yourself hanging on the ropes, out of breath and out of pucker somehow, someway, you reach down for another energy-bursting, head to head and head to toe embracing of the enemy. When will it end? Never. Ever heard the phrase "There's no fool like an old fool?" Hang in there, Buddy.
